I am looking to try to connect at least two controllers to my mame machine so the kids can play some games.  what can I use to do this other than the adaptoid.  is it possible at all?

Isn't the Adaptoid a USB adapter? Hence, you can connect more than one USB adaptoid. Or is there some technical reasoning I'm missing here?

I was wondering if there is another item I can use.  like that psx/n64 adapter by boom I think.  I read some where that you can only use one at a time and want to know if that is true. Is the adaptoid is the only choice when using more than one controller at a time.

I don't know if not being able to connect more than one controller via the adaptoid is true or not, I wouldn't think so, but I don't own them so I can't really say. The adaptoid isn't the only adapter I've seen, but everyone is going hog ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- crazy over it for some reason.

I'm sure the Adaptoid is a good product, but it disgusts me  that the death of Lik-Sang would create this kind of scrambling around for basic things like adapters and restrict our selection to a point where we only have one product to talk about.

DAMN YOU TO HELL SONY!!

the adaptoid is still being made and it was not liksang that made it .  It was Wishtech  they sell them through http://www.ztnetstore.com/.  they stated they will have some in about two to three weeks.  The price of $40.00 a piece makes it a little expensive.  the other item is the N64/PSX USB Adapter 9.99 each.  they state they can only use one at a time so no two -four player games.  I was told the adaptoid can go up to four.  What I was hoping for is some peoples experience wiht the N64/PSX USB Adapter vs the Adaptoid to see if anyone was able to get the N64/PSX USB Adapter in at least two player mode. finally is there another product that can do this that I am not aware of.

I never said Lik-Sang made the Adaptoid, they were a supplier/importer for products of this nature. My OT rant was just about how it's annoying to run around on multiple sites looking for products.

Anyhow, I get the impression, from reading the description, that, "....only a single controller may be connected at any given time." is referring to the fact you can't connect a PSX and a N64 controller at the same time. Not so much connecting multiple adapters to the PC. The adaptoid is preferred due to better support for a wider variety of N64 controllers.

That's the impression I get.  :dunno

I use a logitech Dual Action controller. It mostly mimics the PSX controller in layout. Cost me $18 bucks. It works on the N64 emulator pretty well. Not sure if you are just looking for the thrill of using an actual N64 controller on your PC, but just about any cheap PC controller will do the job of working on mame. My only dissapointment about this logitech controller is that the analog controls have a square frame so when you move up it doesnt stick into a little groove like the n64 controller so its likely to slide in the up-right or up-left position. I haven't checked but perhaps they have PC controller with these little grooves now.

I've had success also with the logitech...good controller for the price.

You can hook up more than 1 of those boom psx/n64 controllers to mame. I've had 4 running at the same time with n64 controllers, and it works fine.
