Can I use heat shrink tubing for this?
« on: April 23, 2007, 09:47:11 pm »
I cut out a hole in a plastic enclosure for NES controller port.  Unfortunately the edges aren't as smooth as I would like.

Can I buy some heat shrink tubing, cut it in half and apply it to the edges?

Is there any other material that I could use to cover the edges with to make it look more professional?

Thanks!!

How big is the hole?
Is it round or square or an obtuse triangle?

Also a pic would help us determine the best course of action.

Picture attached.  I basically want to add some sort of gasket material to fill in the spaces and make it pretty.

Thanks!!

Or cover the whole thing up with some vinyl and cut some pieces out where you insert the controllers?

Do you have any vacuum hose (automotive)? Take a small piece, the circumference of the hole, and slice it the entire length on one side. Then just wedge the plastic in the slice and you have a grommet  :D

I like the vinyl idea.  Where is the best place to get such a small quantity?  I have looked in the BST forum and on ebay... I know happ has it, but I don't particularly want to deal with their exorbitant shipping...
