UncleT's Jukebox (v3.27) RELEASED
« on: April 11, 2007, 10:48:28 am »
Version 03.27

Added:  Support for MPEG4 audio (.m4a) and video (.mp4) files

Version 03.26

Fixed:  Search function does not generate results even when matches are known to exist

Version 03.25

Added:  Support for MKV video files and MKA audio files

Version 03.24

Fixed:  "Error68: Device Unavailable" error which was seen when trying to startup the application on a laptop computer.

Version 03.23

Fixed: When the application first loads the Song Queue listbox on the MediaTab page and the Song Track listbox on the AlbumsTab page were not properly sized.  There was usually a large gap between the listbox and the section located directly underneath.

Version 03.22

Fixed: When toggling between the Albums and Search pages, the font for the Albums/Search buttons do not get updated.

Fixed: Allowed the virtual keyboard cycle button to inherit the same color which was applied to the keyboard buttons instead of not allowing it to change color at all.

Fixed: Allowed popup windows (Password. Search, Genre, etc) to be assigned a backcolor color and button colors

Added: Increased the width of the song queue list located on the Media page.

Version 03.21

Fixed: When activating Party Lock while the "Hide Main Tabs Pullout Menu" option was currently selected resulted in the user being prevented in accessing the Options Menu anymore.   As a result, hiding the main tabs pullout menu button is no longer allowed.  The user can still hide buttons within the pullout menu to block party guest appropriately anyway.

Fixed: When the Party Lock option manu was visible then entering a party lock password via the internal virtual keyboard did not work properly.

Version 03.20

Added: Option allowing user to set a song queue insertion limit (located on Options/Misc/Page2)

Added: Idle Application Handling option page.  The existing "Attract Mode" settings were moved into this new page and new "Page Select Mode" settings are now available.  The user can now determine whether they want to switch to the Media Page or Albums Page after the application has remained idle (ie: no user input) for a certain amount of time.  If the option to switch to the Media Page is activated then the user can also decide whether the active media display should be maximized to cover the complete application area as well.

Fixed: Hiding the "UncleT's Jukebox" text when playing some videos at full windowed mode when the video might not cover the text up completely.

Version 03.19

Fixed: The positioning of a few buttons were moved up a bit.

Version 03.18

Added: New option to display/hide tool tip textbox when mouse floats over an object (ie: button, etc...).  Option is located on Misc(Page 3)

Version 03.17

** If you upgrade to this version and currently use the "Alien", "Fire", "Ice" or "BlackAndRed"  skin on your media tab page or albums tab page then you should re-download these skin from my site and reinstall them so the new buttons added (See below) will be skinned properly.

If you use the "BlackAndBlue" skin or "Default" skin then nothing needs to be done since these skins are supplied with the application and will be updated once you install this version of the software.

Added: New buttons were added to allow the user the ability to scroll the lyrics up/down manually.  This is particularly helpful when song lyrics are currently being displayed on the dual monitor which is not a touchscreen monitor so the lyrics can not be scrolled using the scrollbar.  The lyrics can already be set to automatically scroll by themselves, however sometimes the lyrics text does not scroll fast enough to keep up with the song.  These new buttons will allow the user to scroll through the lyrics manually when desired.  This new option is located in Misc(Page1)

Remove: The scrollbars in the lyrics window located on the dual monitor display has been removed.  These are no longer needed since the user should use the buttons I just added (see above).  The scrollbars used for the lyrics displayed on the primary monitor remain since some people which use a touchscreen monitor prefer to use these scrollbars.

Added: When double-clicking on an album image, the image is expanded  The expanded image now includes artist, album and genre information.

Fixed: An album image is no longer displayed when clicking on an "Empty" album cover image slot.

Fixed: Selecting album covers using the keyboard mapping keys would sometimes select an empty album cover slot.

Version 03.16

Added: "Shutdown Computer" button has been added to the Options/Misc(4th page) which will shutdown/poweroff your computer when clicked

Fixed: "Run Time Error 68" being produced at startup when the computer does not have a "C:\" drive existing (ie: card reader)

Version 03.15

Fixed: Enlarged the search character scrollbar buttons a bit so they are easier to use with a touchscreen monitor.

Version 03.14

Added:Support for CDG (karaoke video) file formats.  If your WMP player can play CDG file formats then my jukebox software should also now be able to play them.

I believe you need to download some sort of CDG plugin for WMP to make them work.   Anyway, if you install the plugin and get the CDG files working in WMP outside of my jukebox software then they should work inside my application as well.

(EDIT)
"Encryptor" was nice enough to provide information for CDG usage

For anyone that wants it you can get the plug-in here for WinAmp or WMP.

Encryptor

"MusicMan" was also kind enough to contribute information as well  :applaud:  :applaud:

(/EDIT)

Version 03.13

Added: The JUKE_SONGLIST_ADD_SONG, JUKE_SONG_START and JUKE_SONG_NEXT plugin commands were updated to include the full filename path of the song file.

Version 03.12

Added: When you use the seek character scrollbars it is sometimes hard to see the letters change as you move the scrollbars.  As a result,  I added the ability to display a larger seek character display.  Basically, when you use the seek scrollbars, you will see a larger character display now so you can see better.  You can turn this off via the Albums options page if you do not want this enhancement.

** If you upgrade to this version and currently use the "Alien", "Fire", "Ice" or "BlackAndRed"  skin on your albums tab page then you should re-download that albums page skin from my site and reinstall it so this new seek character display will be skinned properly.

If you use the "BlackAndBlue" skin or "Default" skin then nothing needs to be done since these skins are supplied with the application and will be updated once you install this version of the software.

Version 03.11

Added: Placed a FIND button directly on the Search Page so you can simply push this button to perform a search for a song.

** If you upgrade to this version and currently use the "Alien", "Fire", "Ice" or "BlackAndRed"  skin on your albums tab page then you should re-download that albums page skin from my site and reinstall it so this new FIND button will be skinned properly.

If you use the "BlackAndBlue" skin or "Default" skin then nothing needs to be done since these skins are supplied with the application and will be updated once you install this version of the software.

Version 03.10

Fixed: WMA files are now considered to be "audio" files instead of "video" files.

Version 03.09

Added: Support for FLV (flash video) file formats.  If your WMP player can play FLV file formats then my jukebox software should also now be able to play them.

Version 03.08

Added: The "VolumeChange" plugin event will be sent when the jukebox application starts to inform the plugin of the current volume level

Version 03.07

Fixed: When the search text window appears, I now make sure any previously entered text is removed so the user can start with a new query instead of having to press the clear button before entering new text.

Version 03.06

Added: Visual indication of what is going on when you are loading in your library.  Currently is just stated "please wait" and the user had no idea whether the software was doing anything.  I am now displaying the changes which are occuring which will ensure the user the software is actually doing something.

Added: When a keyboard key is used to increase or decrease the volume level, then instead of moving one increment at a time, I changed this to move 5 increments at a time.

Version 03.05

Fixed: When a search result displays only one match and then the user presses the Down(Down 10) button, the software crashes.

Version 03.04

Fixed: Fast forward/rewind action was occurring to quickly and some systems were not able to process the requests quick enough, so I reduced the number of requests which were sent.

Version 03.03

Fixed: When the Up/Down buttons are clicked once, sometimes they move a couple spots instead of one spot only.  I slowed down how fast it repeats so clicking one time should be better now.

Version 03.02

Added: When the Up/Down buttons are pressed down then the associated action will repeat itself continuously until the button is released.

Added: Ability to log commands being sent to the plugin as well as events which are returned from the plugin.  When you activate the logs you can capture these messages with the "medium" log level setting.

Fixed: When a plugin requests a volume level to be set which exceeds the maximum allowed volume level, then the maximum volume level will be set instead of ignoring the request.

Fixed: Moved the idle-play genre listbox down a bit to allow more room between it and the Genre button

Fixed: In the skin tool, the "Section Highlighter" choice will now display a preview of what it represents.

Extra: Adding a new "Alien" skin at my jukebox website

Version 03.01

Added: New plugins settings tab, where user can set how often the plugins are requested for an event.

Fixed: Lined up the plugin description text so it looks better

Version 03.00

Added: Plugin capabilities have been incorporated in the application.

This jukebox supports the Jukebox Plugin Support (JPS) standard although not all commands within the standard are supported.   A new "Plugins" option menu exists in the software which describes which events it supports.

To understand more about the jukebox plugin system (JPS) standard, please visit the website and/or Jukebox Wiki page:

          http://www.jukeplugsys.com/
          http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Jukebox_Plug-Ins

When certain events occur within the jukebox (ex: songStart, songEnd, songPause, etc.) then a notification will now be sent to all enabled plugins.  The plugins can also request the software to perform tasks as well.

Please read the help text for more info.

Fixed: Certain button images were not displayed when using the keyboard mapping values.

Fixed: The song track random button default key mapping value was already assigned to another button (ie: not unique), so I changed the default value.

Version 02.14

Added: Software now allows for 3-digit track numbers (instead of just 2-digit)

Version 02.13

Added: When clicking the clear button in the Search window, the focus goes back to the enter text box now.

Fixed: When using the transparent keyboard to enter search text, the Search window is moved upwards so it is not directly behind the keyboard window now.  Same thing was done for the PartyLock Password window.

Version 02.12

Fixed: Incorrect key mappings would occur for a few values

Fixed: Incorrect song title being deleted from song queues

Version 02.11

Fixed: Song queue does not advance to the next song on rare occasions.

Version 02.09 and 02.10

Added: New option added which will extract ID3TagV2 lyrics from a MP3 file when no lyrics TXT file exists.

Version 02.08

Added: New option added which allows the user to indicate whether the screensaver should be allowed to activate itself when a song is currently playing.   Basically, if there a lot of songs queued and no more system input occurs then the screensaver will start up        when it's timer expires thus potentially starting up when songs are still playing.   This might be acceptable when audio files are playing only, but if the jukebox is currently playing videos, then this would be bad since no one will be able to view the videos anymore.  The new option is on the MISC page.

Version 02.07

Fixed: Apply "deactivate mute image" when MUTE has been deactivated when volume up/down is pressed.

Version 02.06

Fixed: Stopped screen flicker which occurred right before application begins to load

Fixed: Stopped screen flicker which occurred right before application is displayed in full screen mode when first loading

Update: Repositioned the "Show tool tip" startup option to be listed under the "Startup" options section

Version 02.05

Fixed: Incorrectly positioned album number fields when displaying 16 album covers at one time

Fixed: Setting the "Display Album Number" option does not work when the Media page is visible

Version 02.04

Fixed: Incorrectly positioned album number field when displaying 9 album covers at one time

Would it not been better to just use one thread, and bump that thread instead, so it can avoid these many threads about the same subject (like I did with Arcade Music Box, and Barcrest with Freebox)?

Not because it wrong of it.
Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

Great work UncleT!
 :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

I have downloaded it and trying to get used to it on my desktop.
I do plan to build a jukebox for my disabled brother, but I may have to go with a simpler layout for him.
But I will place this at the top of the list for MY juke, whenever I get around to building it.

I asked a question in a different post about using a am/fm radio PCi card in the jukebox's computer.
My little brother listens to the radio a lot, so that would be neat for him. Have you explored interfacing a pci (or USB) airways radio device to your juke box program?

I dont think this type of functionality will be incorporated.   I wanted to keep the software like a video jukebox instead since I hardly ever listen to music on the radio ..... just like to listen to my songs in my jukebox now   :P

I bought a FM transmitter which will transmit all the sounds from my computer headphone jack to a FM channel (88.8, 89.1, etc..).   I can then tune my house intercom system to one of these radio stations and hear my jukebox playing throughout the house (or on my main stereo system.

I guess you can always have your jukebox playing random songs and then when you brother wants to hear jukebox music he can tune the radio station to 88.8 or 89.1

Well .... just letting you know what I am going to do with my jukebox.  I am in the garage working on it right now.   Just made my last wood cut and I am ready to start wood putty'ing the holes up.   :applaud:

Thanks for replying..
But you might be misled by what i meant.
I want to build a juke with a lot of the cds he listens to ripped to the hard drive.
But I would also like to have a am/fm radio on the juke so he can play the radio on the juke, or the mp3s, whichever he wants to do.
I am thinking of buying a stereo (old school type with the knob and slider tuner dial), and maybe putting the front with the controls on it onto the juke, below the monitor.
This might be the best way to go, cause then I could probably use the radios amp for the computer too.

Well I do not have any plans on integrating radio stations into my jukebox.    I prefer to keep it like a true jukebox with mp3 and video functionality.

Mr T  ;D  ?

Do you have any plans to add 'Plug in' capability?  I don't think it would be that difficult.

Send message to plug-in on certain events. eg
- Start
- Stop
- Song Change - And send Plug-in details of Song

That way I can rig up a LCD display.

That would be super cool.

I found some info here:
http://sandsprite.com/CodeStuff/Understanding_plugins.html

Tell me when to start coding  :P

Sorry, but I do not have any plans to add plugin capability to the software.   I started to read through that link you provided and was not really excited about doing/learning that stuff.   Just not my cup of tea I guess.   The software does everything I would like it to do so I am happy with it and just decided to share it with everyone.

Sorry ....    :-\

I knew that... :dizzy:

How about UncleT, if I write and test a couple of 'bits' of VB6 code that you could insert into your code in a few points.

Eg:
Point 1 Start
Point 2 Music change
Point 2 Quit

Would you be happy with that as it should not interfere with any other operation?

"like a true jukebox", "mp3", and "video functionality" look kinda strange in the same sentence together..

If you want to tinker with VB6 I will look at it when you are done of course .....  :)

I read the link you provided once again but was still confused as to what actually should be done to allow plugins so I probably would not be of that much help.  I am not a VB6 pro by far so I rarely utilize it's full potential.  Creating DLLs and such is not my forte .....

I did never wrote a plugin to that application I gave a link for. Its work perfectly just write to a text file. LCDSmartie would so read the text file when the file is changed and its would output to the LCD. If the text is to long, it automatic scroll. You do not even need a LCD to test with, since LCDSmartie have a onscreen one (otherwice I would been very hard to made that one, because I never got one).

Many software play vidoes now to day, but not MultiJuke, due to BlitzMax (that language I use) movie limits and MultiJuke is a OpenGL application. I still not see a movie extension with sound support that works both Linux and Windows.

So it not strange to get this type of application play vidoes  :D

Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

Writing the information to a file and having an application which reads that file only when the date/timestamp changes is a good idea.

So do you want me to add stuff to a file for you?   What type of stuff?  Should there be a specific format to use perhaps to set up the text file?    Perhaps you want to play around with the LEDSmartie software first and then get back to me?

Let me know ..... and Happy New Year Aussie Style!

OK I think after playing,  that the 'Plug-in' idea would be the best all-round. It means that I can use the code that I have already written for mala. Even potentially to the extent that a plug-in could be used on either MaLa or your jukebox software.

Rather than pollute this thread anymore I will share my findings and test software in your section

I tried my new remote controller plugin with your software (that now works as it should in Beta 4). But seen it there is still few comminucation bugs in your software, because it diddent SEND and GET correctly with your software.

ALL KEYCLICK events seen works fine when I pressed on these button from the plugin. This mean your software DO get a response from the plugin.

ALL OTHER elements did NOT work as they should and did nothing in your software when I tried to activate these buttons:

 * Could not Repeat a song (This send a ON or OFF events back using GET).
 * IDLEPlay Activate wont work correctly (can see it does something, but the status on the buttons diddent change?).
 * Could not set a new volume.
 * You defined VolumeUp and VolumeDown Wrong? Should they not a KEYDOWN and KEYUP Events? Or are these just INFO values?
 * EnterSel Digit even not work, when I tried to change the number.

Look on the screenshot what I did and tried.
