Don't forget I said all six which means the controls and screen orientation would be exact. The all in one is just a lesser dream during a hazy short nap. So don't go pooping on my dream.  ;)

No pooping meant. I myself, would love to have them all. I was just making a side comment on the MultiWilliams stuff.

Another one I wouldn't mind owning just because it looked cool was Time Traveler by Sega.  The game wasn't the fun, but it sure was neat when it first hit the arcades.

The ultimate white whale:

enough money to buy all the damn games I see for sale around the country (like the Red Baron cockpit on Ebay right now), a place to put them without cluttering up the house, and a wife who understands why her husband doesn't want to "grow up".....  (well, guess I've got that last one, as long as I don't do the 2nd one....)

An arcade back in the day had a rotating afterburner cockpit game where it moved as you flew.  Seemed really awesome when I was young, so would love to try it again.

A PAIR of those sold locally at auction for C$50 (one working, one for parts) ... nobody wanted to move the bloody things. Guy turned around and sold the working one on eBay for C$940.

 :dunno

Heh.  I sold a PAIR of those things to another member here a while back.  Moving one of those things is the second worst arcade-related task there is.

Thus far for me, by a longshot, was dropping a $2400 game and seeing the cabinet crack/hearing shattering glass.

Just curious ChadTower. How did you react?

I know I would have seen white (like that explosion of white pain you get when you violently stub your toe), fell flapping to the floor like a fish freshly out of water and start screaming new and improved obscenities never before heard by mankind.

I did it at my workplace after having won the machine at auction (Twilight Zone).  Luckily I was alone in the room, so while I was very very quiet, I did just sit there for a couple minutes contemplating the stupidity of my existence.  It was a Douglas Adams moment for sure.

After evaluation, only one corner was structurally damaged and was repairable without detection from the outside, and the "glass" sound was actually the cabinet striking the piled up legs on the ground.  No glass had actually broken, not that that really matters in a modern pin, but the sound... it was like slapped hit in the face with a steaming bag of my own idiocy.

ChadTower,

So it sounds like you were able to fix it though, right? Don't worry, I've got a little story that will make you feel better about anything stupid you've ever done.

My uncle had a friend that used to run an arcade distribution company in the early '80s until the middle of the '90s. During that time there were a few machines he left boxed up and never sold or never got out to a location. Anyway, about 10 years ago, when my uncle was diagnosed with cancer, his friend gave him a NEVER PLAYED Pinbot and Missle Command. They were beautiful. Well, when my uncle died, a few years passed and neither had been played for quite some time. My aunt remarried, and eventually sold the two machines FOR $100 TOGETHER. When I visited and saw that the machines were gone, my stomach dropped. When she told me the story I almost fainted.

To think that they could have been mine if I only knew that she was planning to unload them.

So you took it well then. I just did the same thing yesterday after seeing this.

In the scheme of things VV Cephei is just a grain of sand compared to the vastness of the entire stew we call the universe.

1.6 Billion Km in diameter.  :o

So to sum it up, does it really matter that you dropped your machine.  :)

Dropping a game can give you a heart attack, for sure.

I had a 1952 Seeburg jukebox decide to break a wheel and try to fall off my lift gate just as I was starting to lower it.  This juke has a TON of glass and my arcade life flashed before my eyes.  Quickly jumped in front of it to bear hug it but it was heavy and coming off for sure.  Ended up taking it completely to the ground with me under it, then gently lowering onto its side on the concrete.  Amazingly, no damage to the jukebox (which was good since it wasn't mine) but did end up with a long scratch down my forearm.

Ha, I did that once with a 100 year old upright piano... from a high liftgate, too.  Never in my life have I been so glad to have spent years as a powerlifter in a crouch with way too much weight to support from above.  It probably saved me from serious injury and definitely saved the piano from getting trashed.
