I guess this didn't sell on Ebay so he's gonna try Craig's List!  I still laugh when I see this setup!

Doesn't even include the cheapo computer.  So what does it include, besides the monitor, old video card and few buttons ... a curtain???  :laugh2:
Who comes up with an abortion like this???  It's like I hate the guy who's trying to sell it, but would hate even more the guy who would actually buy it.

Btw, I flagged it.  This should be posted in garbage section, not computer and tech. ugh

I think it's a typo. He meant to advertise it for $15.00 and suggest that machines like this sell for over $30.00 (still debatable) on Ebay.

I'm local to him. I'd give him like 250-300 for the parts if he'd scrap the "cab" and the cell phone display. Dude is delusional.

I couldn't view the picture. However, delusional (to us with experience) or not (everbody else), there is always a chance one of those "suckers born every minute" may bite. Then
Craig gets the last laugh all the way to the bank. Unfortunately, people often get sucked in on ebay. That is why Brick and Mortar still exist and will continue to flourish. Like myself, I like to look at and feel the item for quality. I've been laughed at before for putting things to the "flick test" searching for what my buddy refers to as "qualitia".

Am I the only one starting to feel sorry for this guy?

He created something that he thinks is special. To us, he has it overvalued. I mean, really all he did was take a desk and drill some holes in it and wired up everything. The fact that he's not including the computer (which is where all the real configuration happens) is a shame. If he included a good computer - the price for the parts is well worth it.

I'll be the first one to admit I've overvalued some of the things I've built. People don't value my blood sweat and tears as much as I do.

Why was the listing 'flagged'?
Did he actually violate any rules with the posting (aside from good taste)?

In a lot of areas now, Craigslist is polluted with people who abuse that function to get competitors off the webstie.

Think it was taken down due to false advertising.  Saying that similar setups cost $3,000 is just an insult.  Maybe the admin didn't want to touch it with an "ugly" stick, so he gladly took it down instead.

He didn't say that. He said MAME cabs sell for $3,000 on ebay. Thats totally different than what your saying.

One thing I'm seeing is a lot of people are pointing and laughing - but many of the people pointing and laughing don't have their own MAME cabs built yet.

I've never built my own car either, but if I saw someone asking $40,000 for a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire that he added a spoiler to and called a Corvette, I'd point and laugh. You don't have to have built it to know its worth, or lack thereof.

If you've ever went to an arcade auction - you would laugh a lot.

I'm done trying to defend that goofball. But half you dweebs making fun of him need to shut your asses up and build a cabinet.

I actually kind of like the setup okay.  I don't know if that is a black cloth or whatnot.  I would prolly ditch that and put a sheet of 3/4 white pine or whatever he was using in place of the black sheet.  Then I would encase his arcade monitor something a little more sturdy.  Make sure that thing doesn't fall on a pet and shock them.  But ehhhhh well.....Atleast he prolly liked it for a little while.

This is how I see it, most of the people here who have built cabs have built something of quality. Perhaps worth paying $3k for if they where to sell it.

Lets say this is a site of great chefs and each of us are showing off our awesome recipies, crown rack of lamb, sirloin steak and the like. Then some guy comes along to show off a hot dog he cooked. Well the rest of us can't help but laugh at the guy. Sure the hot dog may be good and tasty but its still just a hot dog compared to our crown rack of lamb. Worst part is he expects someone to pay the same price as the sirloin steak.
