Costco multi game
« on: February 11, 2007, 05:04:00 pm »
Anyone see this Costco multi-game: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Productgroup.aspx?Prodid=11193039

I check it out a few days ago and it's pretty nicely done.  It's made by an outfit called the Chicago Gaming Company.  The front end was nicely laid out and switched between games quickly.  Anyone know what HW/SW they're using in this cab?

Russ,

For that price you could build a pretty fancy machine of your own.

BYOAC!!!

The ultimate arcade was an ultracade based unit.   Apparently the ultimate arcade 2 is not.  This is a quote from their tech support.

"In regard to Ultimate Arcade 2,

It is a complete redesign of the electronics,
It's NOT PC based
It has NO CD or hard drive
and does NOT operate on Ultracade/GlobalVR based software
and will NOT use game packs from earlier (Arcade legends and Ultimate Arcade) machines.

So game pack questions for UA2 should be directed to myself via our website at: http://www.chicago-gaming.com

But since this is BYOAC I cannot see anyone here having any interest in such a unit except wanting
to know what is inside since this sounds like a new approach.  We like to take them apart to see what
makes them tick.

Looks pretty crappy. And why does it have only one coin slot?

It's for home use only, it doesn't accept quarters.

I haven't taken one apart, but from what I've gathered it's running XP embedded with the games held on CF memory.  Their game packs have always been quite expensive.

If you want something to bring in the house and turn on, it's an ok way to go.  If you want to add stuff to it like mp3/other games, it's not a wise decision.  I don't think its even possible.

How does it not have a hard drive.  The data has to be stored somewhere...

The OS and the Data are stored in hardware on flash rom.
