All MAME games running at 640x432??? How to do this?

Is there a way in the mame.ini file to change all resolutions of all my mame games to 640x432?  I see some things that say resolution auto, but there are multiple entries for this.

Resolution Auto means that MAME will decide and choose the best resolution.

I believe you change that to NO or OFF or something else, and then you can over-ride it with 1 resolution for all games.'

The auto works great on my end. My desktop is 640x432 and GameEx is the same. Games stretch to fill the screen, but all the pixels are square and crisp. Looks completely legit. Works in MAME and MAME32X just fine.

go into the mame ini file, then look for the line that says :
 resolution     auto   

and change it to
resolution     640x432

my mame.ini has multiple listings.  It says resoltion, then it has some stuff then resolution1 on down resolution2, should I just change all of these to 640x432.  I use mame .110 with lateset Mamewah.  My desktop is 640x480.  Just want to see if it makes it better.  Prolly not, might be to much underscan.  I don't know.  I will post my mame.ini file later tonight.

mame v.98 is the newest one I've worked with and it only lists resolution once, so I have no idea what your supposed to do    Make a backup of the ini file, then start fiddling with it and hope something works.  If it goes FUBAR, then just restore the backup ini file.

Hey AtomSmasher how did you get your TV to look that good?  Are you running powerstrip or any special resolution.  My top of screen of Galaga is not too bad, but it doesn't look as good as yours.  It looks like the top of your galaga game in mame is down a little bit to show all the score.

I just forced every game to play in 640x480, then I used the controls in ATI's control panel to adjust the screen for that resolution so it fit perfectly on the screen.

Yeah that was what I originally was going to do.  My upper left corner seems to be tilted just a tad, so if I bring it down some the upper right corner has some black showing.  I may just have to leave it.  I will fiddle with it a little more. 

AtomSmasher do you ever have like any black border at the top or bottom of the screen or anything, or do you games fill the whole screen nicely?

I used MaLa's resolution setting in advanced tab to run everything at 640x432. Covered doing so with pics in another thread. This was very simple to do with MaLa.

They fill the screen nicely for me.
