Neo Geo MV-1F controller ports
« on: September 15, 2006, 05:48:00 am »
Anybody know where I can get connecters that will fit the controller ports on this motherboard?

They're the two black connectors above and to the right of the jamma connector.

The ports fit AES (Neo-Geo home system) joysticks/controllers. These things are pretty hard to find (and somewhat expensive) these days.

OTOH,Neo-Geo controllers are all just straight circuits for each button.  You can build your own using these pinouts:

http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/neocont.htm

It uses a standard DB-15 plug, but diferent pinouts than a PCs gameport.

I never really understood why the arcade PCBs had these ports though, since the arcade cabinet's control panels are wired to the JAMMA-like edge connector. Maybe for testing PCBs?
Brevity is not my strong suit.

I believe it's because they were going to add different types of controllers at one point for different types of games...but they never did it, except for Irritating Maze, which ended up using a totally different set up anyway.
