Coin door woes
« on: August 21, 2006, 05:26:41 pm »
I know this type of question gets asked a lot around here, but I've looked everywhere and can't find anything conclusive.

I have an over/under coin door that looks like a Happs at first glance, but after some searching I've found that it's an international type used mostly in England (a similar reject button assembly is seen here: http://www.pbresource.com/signatur/gsys3coindoor2.jpg). As such, I cannot replace the coin reject buttons with the ones Happ makes. I would have liked to get a couple blue replacements: http://www.happcontrols.com/cc/420517xx.htm

It seems like the Wells-Gardener reject button replacements are the closest match I can get so my question is, does anyone have a WG coin door and/or the replacement buttons, and are they a close match to the images attached below? Bonus points for anyone who can lead me to blue tinted or clear reject buttons!

EDIT: Note, the major differences are that the coin slot is on the button itself and not the bezel, and that the plunger where the spring goes on is on the bottom (i have it upside down in the pictures, oops), not in the middle as it appears to be on the happs replacements.

Looks like a Coin Controls reject button to me, if I turn my monitor upside down. :D

I could use a couple of these myself, actually. Mine have some black paint around the edges (operator must have done a rush job on repainting the coin door) and the right one has some nasty cracks.

Have a look at this: http://www.happcontrols.com/cc/42315700.htm

I agree with jfh2112 -- sounds like a Coin Controls door. I believe the WG parts are interchangeable, but don't quote me (Is Ken Layton in the house ?).

Happs has replacement buttons in red and I know that Centsible use to stock Coin Controls stuff, but they haven't yet reopened so I can't check if they have different colours (my feeling is no).

Cheers.

Yup those are Coin Controls units. Wells-Gardner did distribute parts for these _at one time_. There used to be a few different colors available when Coin Controls was still in the coin door/coin chute business. You're out of luck. What remaining Coin Controls parts stock is at Happ Control$.

I also agree that they look like coin controls rejects, hard to tell without seeing the back side,If they are Happs sells them, but I would go with the real bobroberts listed in the links page,I just bought a set from him,$5.00 apiece,he's got a good reputation here and was great to deal with and won't fleece you on the shipping,Don't know why but I can't his site to come up with internet explorer but works fine for me with the firefox browser.

Yeah, both the WG and coin controls look like replacements, except my intention was to make them glow blue, and only happs makes those so... no upgrade for me  :(

Thanks for the help all
