I'm at the point of my cab project now that I need to pick out a nice set of speakers. What I would ultimately like to do is go with the Sony XPlod XSV1342A 5 1/4" speakers (check them out
HERE) since they seem to be the car speaker of choice around here.
I know many of you have used the Creative Inspire 2.1 2500 for the hack, and from what I can tell, the speaker simply had the one cone that handled all frequencies (I think?).
Now that I've been shopping, the speaker sets that catch my eye (cheaper price with a modular volume control device) seem to include a small tweeter on each speaker. A good example is the newer
Creative Inspire 2.1 T3030 set.
The question I have is this: Does the fact that the speakers have the 2 seperate cones complicate the whole deal when hacking them into car speakers? Or is it still a matter of simply cutting the cables and attaching them to the XPlods? I'd hate to purchase speakers just to find out they won't work, and I'd rather pick up the speakers locally.
