Mala video Question
« on: July 11, 2006, 08:04:41 am »
I hate asking questions when i know the answer is out there but I have used search.

Okay so I just discovered emumovies.com and Ive been starting to build a collection of vids but when I use the previews in Mala the FE freezes and i need to right click with the mouse to get it to move again. Is there some setting that I'm over looking that neeeds to be checked off to that i can scroll through the games again or does Mala not handle video well?

Blinky, do you have the proper video codec installed?  For the Mame vids, I think you need the xvid codec, but I'm not certain.  Hope this at least puts you on the right path.

Yes I have all the updated codecs and the video plays after a short delay but then mala refuses to scroll through games or change emulator until I right click on the mouse.

Hi,

MaLa handles video well if you have the latest codec installed. I have the emumovies.com collection and it works very well with the latest xvid codec (as Ninten-doh says) found here

I assume the 'short delay' is due to your PC speed?

The mouse clicking thing is not right.

Can you e-mail me your mame.ini file?

[EDIT] sorry i meant mala.ini file       :banghead: [end of edit]

Thanks I got that

I had no problems but I have questions for you?
* Are you using the latest xvid Codec?
* Are you using MaLa 1.0  RC7  ?
* No path to the folder your videos was set in mala.ini you sent me?? Why? Video won't display in a layout without it being set. See pic 'mala75'
* What layout are you using?
* What Spec is your PC  (Processor speed and memory)

Suggestions regardless:
set you mame launch window state to hidden in options/mame/optional
enable display delay with only test selected as an exception in options/gui/options   (see pic 'mala76')

I have the same problems as Blinky did - using videos makes MaLa stop responing to keypresses.  The video displays correctly, but all I can do is use the right mouse button to call up the options menu.

I have downloded the suggested codec and made the option selections outlined above, but the changes make no difference.

I also tried designing a new layout as did Blinky, but still no change.

Has anyone else seen this?

This happened to me randomly one time as well.  Worked fine before and after that one incident.  Strange thing that happens to me is when Mala first loads up, the first video clip does not appear.  Only after I move up or down the list do the videos start appearing.

That happens consistantly to me, not that I'm worried about it right now  ;)
