new dumb question :) Figured it out
« on: March 06, 2006, 10:49:03 pm »
Ok, I am a complet newb and have proven myself to be a moron at times as well :)  That being said I would like to change the shift button on my Ipac4 from the player 1 start to a seperate button. I know this must be easy, but i can not figure it out. What keycode do you use to assign the actual shift button? I thought maybe shift would make sense, but apparantly I was wrong, or I am doing something way wrong. So far all I have managed to do is lose the shift abilty completley.

  Thanks for any help :)

Lon

Heh, I see that if I go in to table view I can reassign the shift key.. Doh!

Lon,
Have you installed the IPAC Configuration Utility software that came with your card? It's really helpful in terms of customizing buttons and such. There are two ways to manipulate button settings within this software.  I personally find it easier to use the "Table" version (versus the button layout version)...you will see small check-boxes as to how you want to see the layout. From there (the Table), you can easily assign key assignments.

I would create a new IPAC file when in this Utility to mess with. Depending on what frontend you use, you should be able to launch this IPAC file with the frontend.

Regarding your wanting to change the shift function...what are your reasons for doing this? Do you want to change this because you want to set up individual buttons to allow for the use of the Pause, Escape, Tab, and Enter functions?

thanks for the reply. yes I have installed the software and have been able to program all of the buttons EXCEPT for a shift button. I want to change the shift button to an independent button so that I can use player 1 and player 2 start buttons as shifted buttons so they can also be coin buttons.
