Apologies to those who have been suffering with it since last night.  We ditched our other provider to try to get the speed up to something more reasonable.  We were seeing minimum 6-second response times to every click, so GoDaddy ......went.

So there were probably a few nameservers that weren't updated by this morning and to top it off, the new service had some technical problems resulting in LONG query times (of course, right after I sign up.)

But I complained and it's now pretty snappy.  If you have a minute and want to give it  a spin, please let me know what you think of the current  performance.

On a side note, I've started putting the doc sheets up, in PDF format, for the interface products so they can be downloaded.  This will be done by the end of the day.

Thanks for your patience.

Randy, is there any way you can create a smaller image for your product listings that is not the large, large image just resized?  I've noticed it always takes a bit of time for each image to draw itself, even on broadband.  I do see that it is the same full-screen image for everything (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/images/tmgrn.jpg for example).  Just a question.  I'm seeing a 2-4 seconds wait per screen before the page is served to me (on DSL).

Looks great, though.  Keep up the good work!

The response time is much, much faster than a few days ago when I was looking for stuff.  Wise decision to switch providers.  Its going to make it easier on us to buy stuff from you!  ;D

Thanks for the suggestion. That's also on my "to-do" list.  It's one of the things the admin app doesn't help you do easily, so it's been neglected.  Should be easy enough to do a batch conversion, once I figure out where they go ;)

Good.  I was hoping that would be the case.  If you don't deal with this kind of stuff all the time, it's a lot of work.  I hope we'll be with this provider for a while.

Thanks,
RandyT

Glad to see you got it fixed.  You seemed suprised when I e-mailed you telling you it was so slow.  The important part is I was able to place my order.

Thanks again!

Yeah, it's been kind of off and on.  When it worked, it seemed almost acceptable.  Unfortunately, this is what happens when there's not enough bandwidth to go around.  So you try to ride through the rough spots when there's a lot of usage on the servers.

But when one person complains, that means there are 20 who are getting ticked off and not saying anything.  That's when it's time to switch ;).

Thanks again for the feedback.

The site won't load at all for me, it times out in both the latest Firefox and in IE.  I've been loading all other pages with no problems this morning.

Not that it matters much, but I tried clicking through your link in your sig, and by just typing in the address.  No go.

EDIT:  It's loading now, but takes a good 20 seconds or more to do so.

Tried it here on T1, and slow to get initial to the home page, but once I was there, all the pics, info, etc, loaded in a split second.  Never went to anything other than the home page.

I'm at them again.  Hopefully they are still working on the problem.

It was very quick yesterday, after they supposedly got things ironed out.  I hope they aren't yanking my chain.

Thanks for the feedback.

Whatever the problem was. they seemed to have cleared it.  All is once again snappy.

Please continue to let me know if you have problems and I'll keep beating on them until it's fixed.  Hopefully it's not just a server load issue that comes and goes.

Thanks,
RandyT

I am still not able to pull up the main page quickly at all.  Its 30+ seconds.  Could be my browser/connection but everything else is fairly quick.  My two cents.

Maybe it was on my end, but I closed Firefox down and re-started it.  The site came up right away.  ???

I tried again, and again at least 30 seconds if not a minutes to get to your home page.  I clicked on the Econo plus, and it just sat there again.  I didn't wait for it to load.  I didn't try clearing out my cache, but I can't imagine that would make a difference.  I will try it from my house. (it's dial-up, but it still should load faster than 30+ seconds.

It's going up and down.  Sorry for the inconvenience folks.  I just spent 30 minutes in live chat with someone named Olga, who is apparently in the Ukraine.

They then tried to tell me everything was fine and tried to brush it off on my ISP.  So, I sent PING results and parse times until she finally admitted a problem and supposedly notified her superiors.

The webhosting company is "ixwebhosting", if anyone is curious.  They supposedly have been highly rated, but I'm not seeing it.  I really hope it's just a "bump" in the road.

BTW, I also optimized the images, so the small stuff should load quicker and look better, if this ever gets resolved.

Thanks.  Story of my life.  That's ok, I would have just wasted the money on things like food and heat  :P

They appear to be having some really bad problems with the MySQL server.   I can't even get to from their website.

There must be magic internet connections from the Ukraine, because everything was fine from there  :P

Randy, if you want a much better solution at a sensible price, then I'd strongly recommend "easyspace"    http://www.easyspace.com  I've been with them for my commercial site for over 4 years now and in that time I've had exactly 1 1/2 hours total down time from their servers. Their servers are fast and very very reliable.

Take a look and see if it helps.

I can load up the page now, but I'm seeing a 4 or 5 second delay on every link I click.  Homepage loads up in 4 or 5 seconds, click a product... 4 or 5 seconds... etc etc.

Other sites are doing fine for me.

It's definitely better than before though, and totally useable, but they could probably still do some work on it.

I just turned off gzip compression.  I don't have thousands of products, so this was probably slowing things down.

Better?
