Weird problem with I-Pac 2 and pushbutton
« on: February 02, 2006, 06:19:16 pm »
Everything works fine with my ipac except for one button.  The problem with that is that it only "registers" when you depress and let go of the button.  Basically, when I push it down, nothing happens, but when i let go it registers a keystroke.  I know it sounds like something wrong with the button/switch or that I have the wire connected to the wrong lead on the switch but I confirmed that everything is wired to the right spot and I even tried replacing the switch.

If I open notepad or some text editor and hit that button, nothing shows up when I push it down (as expected) but when I release it...TWO characters show up...it reacts like I hit it twice really quick.

And lastly...during some 2 player simultaneous games (like R-Type Leo, etc) whenever Player one starts up in the middle of the action, it will sometimes "freeze" all of Player 2's controls for a second or two.

Anything I should be looking for?  Could it be the IPac itself?

Sounds like you have the wire on the wrong prong to me.

Either connected to a NC instead of a NO or it's the SHIFT button (default player 1 start).

As with all Ultimarc problems, send it to Andy. He's helpful, thorough, and he checks his email every day.

It's definitely not connected to the wrong prong...that was the very first thing that came to mind and I tried both prongs and another switch just to make sure...

I will email Andy though...

I would assume the offending button is Start1. This is the shift button by default and sends the keycode on release. But is should not send two presses nor cause a delay. Hopefully we can resolve this by email.
