Wither Oscar?

Does anyone know if Oscar is ok? Site has been down for a while and his last post here is from summer or late spring.

I don't believe anyone has heard from him.

Delta88, have you talked to him?  I know you two used to talk in real life.

I'm still hoping that he starts selling kits or maybe get someone else around to start building them for him.  I miss not having access to prehacked mice and kinda pissed I didn't buy the button press option for the V2 (was hoping taht a pull push would come out... :(

Tell me about it...I need a DoT spinner and of course, he's gone...I'd settle for a V2 at this point.  :(

Exactly my thought.  I got the V2 but I planned on buying the push/pull option with a DOT spinner when the pull was made.  Looks like I may have missed the boat.  I hope he's doing well.

Hey Oscar - if you are still reading the boards, and plan on getting out, please post your designs for your stuff somewhere. I'm sure someone here can pick up manufacturing...

Yeah, please come back!!! Or at least start a pre-order page and make a batch when you recieve X orders.  There are many people looking for DOT spinners.

Na, don't take preorders Oscar...

Sell them as kits... MUCH less work on your side and drop a buck or two off... We will figure it out.

I spoke with someone yesterday who used to do some business with Oscar Controls.

He told me that Oscar's full time job has been taking him out of the country lately - which is why he hasn't had much time for producing the spinners.

Oscar: if you are still reading these threads, do know that there are a number of folks who would be willing to help out if it means these can be produced again.

Howdy, everyone!  No, I'm not dead, but nobody would know it because I've been very lousy with my email for the past few months.

Here's the scoop...  As many of you know, I work at a large automotive supplier as a mechanical engineering project leader.  A number of months ago, I was promoted out of engineering to be the Manager of Automotive Sales for our company.  In my company that is a significant promotion, jumping many levels (and people) within the company heirarchy.  Good for me, but bad for Oscar...

The bad is that I'm traveling much more frequently and with less notice than ever before.  For example, I just found out that I'm leaving for Janesville, WI shortly and won't be back until Christmas Eve.  With such hectic traveling, it makes handling Oscar orders impossible.

I still have lots of spinners and knobs in stock, but I haven't even been able to touch them for the past few months.  Much of my time right now is being spent getting sales contacts and showing my face around auto plants throughout North America so my customers know who I am...  I anticipate that some of my traveling will cut down to a more reasonable level after a while, then I plan to start putting my stock on eBay, or sell through some other means that lets me control the output.  Bringing back an online shopping cart right now is out of the question, as that does not really allow me to control the outflow, you know what I mean?  I don't want to be getting ready to get on a plane, and then an order for 20 spinners rolls in...

What little time I've had at home lately has been spent with my family so they don't forget who I am.  :)  I've also been tinkering around finishing some arcade projects that have been taking up all the room in my garage for the past year, but that also takes forever when I only get the odd hour or two to work on them.

Anyway, I just thought I would let you guys know that I am still around, but not very involved with the BYOAC hobby at the moment.  I will also be revising my website to put all the content and project information back online.  The reason I blacked out the main page on my site was because I had so many people wanting to place orders, but they couldn't find out how to purchase becuase I killed the shopping cart links.  I realize that having a website up with all sorts of product information with no way to buy them was very confusing to many people, so I just killed the main page until I have a chance to change the look of the site so it doesn't appear that I am trying to sell products, just provide the content and project pages.

Thanks to all that emailed wondering if I am okay or where I was, and sorry that most of you didn't get replies from me.  :(

Later,

Kelsey

Hey Oscar, before you go.

Any chance of trying to get someone to sell kits for you?

Caution. I also work in the auto industry.
They have gone Crazy. I am sure you have seen the jump in business.
I also got a promotion 1.5 years ago.
WORKED EVERY STINKING WEEKEND SINCE!
if it is not a holiday weekend I have had to work  >:(
I turned in my job today. I still work there. I just gave up my power steering job for Air conditioning job.
1/2 the weekends. 1 machine to run instead of 6
and still my same hourly pay  8)
made good money but ...
keep it.  I want my wife and kids, and MY LIFE back.

I too am really glad to see Kelsey is "alive" and OK. He really has been one of the good guys and always a pleasure to deal with.

Hopefully he can fulfill some BYOAC requests soon......(hint hint....just us!).

Congrats on the promotion!!!

Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

Yeah, if Oscar goes then all we'll have left is that pricy slikstik spinner. Mamespinner.com seems to have dissappeared and the only other option is to build your own.

I have a V2 purchased last July that needs the electronics replaced...anybody know how I can get the mouse hack part and the spinner sensor??  I can probably get by with the sensor only....it says "Oscar Controls" on it.

Thanks

How do you like the V2? Have an extra you're willing to part with? I'm still looking for one.

If someone is going to hypothetically offer a new spinner option to the community, said hypothetical spinner better offer push and pull capabilities...

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Shrines would be built.  People would come from miles away to see it.  I must have it.

Yes, I did like the V2 until it stopped working....no, I can not part with it since it would be a huge undertaking to remove it from my CP since I wired my buttons with LED's....what a wiring birds nest I created...

Zwackery.

You can also use it occasionally as a top fire or slam button... though it's not ideal for that.
