Any chance of you getting the longer shaft?  i think they are for the Qix joystick?  Or were they specially made....

You probably don't want a longer throw since that changes the stick itself.

You want a mounting plate.  Bob Roberts has them for 12 bucks each or so. 

GREAT joystick btw.

on a wood panel, appr. how much do you have to rout out to get a good feel similar to a metal panel for these joys?

Appr. down to the thickness of a metal panel, of course.  Which would break as soon as you try to use it.

Or you could just get the mounting plate mentioned above.
