First, SUV's make the roads suck for more reasons than just gas mileage. They take up multiple parking spaces. They are ugly. They ensure death for the passengers of any car they crash into.
None of this is true!
Second, luxury cars and sport cars make up a tiny percentage of vehicles on the road. SUVs make up over half. An individual GTO may be as bad for the environment as a Ford Explorer, but there's probably 1/100th the number of GTOs as there are Explorers. And let's not forget that the 2005 Ford Excursion gets 10 MPG in the city. There's not a car out there with anything like that kind of fuel economy until you get into the super exotics like Lamborghinis (sp?) that cost a quarter million dollars and a normal person only even sees on the road 20 or thirty times in his entire life.
There is a reason why there is so many suv's. I will let common sense tell you about that one. I agree that the huge suv's are to big. I think the largest a vehicle should be is the size of the tahoe or yukon. Where I live I see a lambo, ford gt supercar, and a classic Ferrari everyday at the neighbors houses. I consider my self a normal person how ever, just surrounded by prestigious members of society. It is beautiful to see those cars everyday but i do wonder what their thoughts about gas are. They probably dont even care. I also agree that Suvs can be a little on the big side and hard to see around. Even in a suv i sometimes have trouble seeing around them on corners so i sympathize with everyone there.
