Time Crisis question ...
« on: August 19, 2005, 07:24:02 pm »
Hi guys,

It seems that time crisis is to be emulated by mame soon.
My question is:
Does games like time crisis that use two monitors can be emulated by mame the same way, i.e. using two monitors to play showing different images on each one?

Two monitors?

two monitors being, on time crisis II and newer the 2 player setups had either a sindle (SD) or dual (DX) monitor setup. allowing for much larger play area in the arcade version.  Basically his question is, will the mame'd time crisis be able to do two monitors. And for a guess I would say, proly not.

Soon?

That would be nice, since according to the MAME site niether Time Crisis I nor II actually work. but I has a note saying some variants might work.

OK well, Time Crisis 1 plays on a single monitor, so there's no reason to worry about it.
NO MORE!!

It doesn't allow a larger play area. It allows 2 players. And as far as I know, it's actually 2 totally seperate machines in one cabinet.

sora mispoke myself, what I meant by larger area is just that two players dont have to share the same monitor and stand so close to each other.

Ah.
Also gives each player a first-person view of the action. If they shared a screen, they'd have to use the same viewpoint.

And it is my understanding that the arcade cabs were just a single board specially designed for two monitors/guns/players. But since Ive never seenm inside one I cant be sure.  Though it doesn't really matter :)
*shrugs*
I thought it was 2 boards, but I may very well be mistaken.

It may turn out to matter, though.
If it uses 2 boards with one driving each screen and a comm cable connecting them, the cost to emulate goes way up over the other System 23 games.
