walmarts idiotic policies
« on: August 10, 2005, 07:15:37 pm »
So i go to walmart to get the new greenday  CD American idiot (if you  haven't heard it, its amazing) i ask  the guy were to find it and he tells me they don't carry it because it contains bad language. ( They. say ---fudgesicle--- and ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- in one song) no Cd's were they drop the f bomb but yet they still sell R rated DVDs like the exorcist were everyother word if ---fudgesicle--- cock sucker or ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- and the have a little girl masturbating with a crucifix. this make absolutely no sense. Now i will have to order It on line and pay for shipping or drive 30 miles to the record store.
They really are getting out of hand with there little policies.
Not long ago i went to buy some spray paint for a bezel i was making and i used the self checkout and it tells me to wait fro a associate. I stand there for nearly 10 mi nuts and she comes and cards me for buying paint I'm 26 ! and i look  it
If k marts selection wasn't so bad i would shop there

It's because it's run by hardcore republicans who, like all modern republicans, promote a big, powerful government to interfere with every aspect of our personal lives and help force us into heaven.

Shop at Costco.  They're great.  Unless you want guns.  They're run by a bunch of damned, spineless, whiny-ass democrats!

It's nice to see that there are still some big stores aren't letting the filth most of us have accepted as normal to dictate what they sell.

Yea, Tipper Gore is a hardcore Republican. Remember the PMRC?
Hilary Clinton and Joe Lieberman are hammering away to get video games censored.

The left is as bad as the right when it comes to this type of thing.

Both parties have two main sub groups. The Dems have the socialists and the enviro-weenies, the GOP has the religous wackos and the robber barons. Walmart is all about profit, and would fall into the latter GOP camp.

Shmokes is half wrong.

I heard that if your CD not on Walmart shelves, your sales will be much less.  So some labels produce two versions, one for everywhere else, one for walmart.

Walmart is  huge.  They can tell VENDORS what to make, they don't sell what Vendors offer.

It's not walmarts fault, it's their right.  Just move to a bigger city.

Its cheaper if you order it online anyway!!

A large percentage of America pretty much buys EVERYTHING at Walmart. In most rural areas it is the only large store within an hour.

I always buy all my CD's and have purchased 10-20 this year. I enjoy the packaging. I pay a couple of bucks extra and purchase all my CD's from music shops.

Online shopping and the huge American mega-marts are killing my local economy and driving service down. I refuse to support either.

I don't have any burned CDs either, I just don't have any CDs at all. I don't even own an actual CD player.

I just moved to Southern Indiana where Walmarts are everywhere.  In NJ, there weren't that many.

Here's what I think about Walmart.

Everything is cheap.  REALLY cheap.  You can buy a pedestal fan, that will blow your desk over, for $11.

Don't expect it to work as quietly, or last nearly as long as the $22 fan from somewhere else.

So, buy junk, expect junk, and get new junk later.

I would never buy a lawn tractor there, since I'd beat it to shreds in less than one summer, but I'll sure as hell buy a fan or toys for my maniac kids.  CD's and stuff like that is a bonus, since it's the same quality no matter what you buy.

WM will sell you a black and decker cordless drill, and it will be cheaper, and of lesser quality, then the same B&D drill at say sears or some tool shop.

The convenience of going to one store, getting underpants, a car battery, an enema, 3 lbs of ground beef, and some rubber hose is incredible, as well as to raise an eyebrow or two when you check out.   :o

Speaking of music, Greenday's newish album American Idiot is fantastic, but what's up with the When September Ends song and why is it all over the radio.  That is just plain awful.  Everything about it is terrible.

...and don't buy it from Walmart.

www.allofmp3.com baby.  Like iTunes, except without the DRM and an entire album encoded @ 192kbps averages about $1.50.  You're not limited to 192 kbps either, or even MP3.  Download in just about any codec out there, including Ogg Vorbis.  Or even download the music with no compression whatsoever.  Pay by the megabyte, not by the song so you're only limited by your budget.

I pay with Xrost gift cards, which I buy with my Paypal account.  This way I don't have to give anybody else my credit card number.  The site is based in Russia.  I've heard that a lot of credit card scammers are also based in Russia which makes me hesitant to get my credit card anywhere near there.

This republican does not "promote a big, powerful government to interfere with every aspect of our personal lives", and doesn't believe it's possable to  force people into heaven.  If walmart, as a private business, wishes to set standards on what they sell, more power to them.

A short summary of walmart and their censorship policies:

Walmart, if you'll pardon my language, is the proverbial "---auto-censored---" of the bible thumpers of the midwest, mainly because the c.e.o. of walmart happens to be married to one.

We don't have Walmart here and prior to these boards I had never heard of it. We have K-mart & Bunnings.

But now, after reading Howard's words, I have the unexplained desire to worship the devil and sexually abuse salt water wildlife.

Yes it is!  It complies with Russian copyright law.  The site has been featured in many magazines and websites.  It is legit.  The Russian government took them to court a while ago, and they had to raise their fees from $ .01 per megabyte to $.02 per megabyte  :o.

It is not legal for people outside of Russia to use the service, since it only complies with Russian copyright law and not international standards.

Ya but they don't tell you that.  And what do they expect everyone to be,  international copyright lawyers.

Anyway you should see the episode of South Park that makes fun of WM.  Its a riot.

Yeah, that's true, since ignorance of the law is always an effective legal defense.

That's right.  If you live in Russia, you're good.  Sorry I forgot about all of the Russians here  ;D

Also the most  powerfully harmful monopoly in the computer world is not Microsoft but is in fact Apple.

Nah...that's nonsense.  Jobs is every bit as evil, greedy and unscrupulous as Gates, but he's nowhere near as powerful and, for that reason, nowhere near as harmful.

And considering he's gearing up for a full-frontal assault on MS (don't believe Apple's line about Mac OS x86 running only on Apple hardware.  That'll last for a year, maybe two) he is about to introduce some semi-serious competition into the desktop market which is good.  It's two bad companies, but it will spur innovation and lower prices.
