Using "sliders" to move a cabinet.

I picked up some of these on clearence.  I put them under my asteroids cabinet.  Man, makes moving that around SOOOOO much easier.  If you don't want them under there permanently they are easy to put under.  Just slightly tilt your cabinet and push them under or pull them out.

If oyu do keep them under the cabinet that isn't a problem.  You have to put a significant horizontal force to move.  Just hitting the buttosn and such won't do it.  At least for me on my carpet.

I'll second that -- those things are great. Home Depot sells them also, BTW. I moved a huge armoire (solid maple and about 400 lbs.) with them, and it was no trouble at all.

I purchased a product very similar to that called moving men, and they are great. I now can leave my entertainment center loaded when I need to move it for any reason. Move it from carpet to wood floor back to carpet with now problems at all. I have some waiting for my cab when it is done...but with my ability to procrastinate that might be awhile

I use those kind of "magic sliders" on all my machines that don't have wheels.

I got tired of trying to "walk" them every time I had to move one for something

It's funny how simple the device is too.  Foam on one side for friction with what you put on it, smooth plastic on the otherside so it slides easily.  You'd think someone would have come up with that sooner.

I still think the casters on my emulation cabinet is more useful.  But for an old cabinet that doesn't have wheels it is nice.  What's nice about wheels is they work better on any surface.

But, since my dad had to help move two kids to and from college for the last 9 years he made a nice platform with large casters and a rope for pulling.  Just stack tubs or whatever on it and pull   But it came in useful for moving the asteroids machine.  He has big enough wheels on it that it rolls decent over grass.  That's how I got it into the apartment.  Unload cabinet from trailer in parking lot.  Roll across lawn to patio door.  Once inside put it on those sliders and moved it where I wanted it.  And I have textured carpet too.  I used the larger ones in the pack.  The smaller sliders might not have handled the textured carpet as well.

The combination of the two just made moving it a breeze.

I use them under the appliances in my rentals... It makes it easy to move them out of the way when I do a deep clean....

I thought that they'd make an arcade cabinet move around to much if they were under them...

it may be the difference of the vinyl flooring compared to carpet......

Hey there,

I really like the super sliders as well--but there are a few caveats to consider when using them.. When I use them, I usually put them on the four corners and try to stick an extra one in the middle.  That way, if I'm moving a cab and one falls off, I don't get a big gouge in the floor.

Another thing to consider is what I like to call the 'sandpaper effect'.  If you use the super sliders on a machine that's on a nice floor, you can end up with little sanded areas where the sliders were sitting.  This happens when dirt gets trapped under the sliders, and the machine gets moved around a little bit.  I guess this is more of an issue with pinball machines though..

Anyway, they work great for moving machines around on the concrete in my garage!

I've seen those before. Tried them, but they didn't work so well for me. Not enough friction on the top surface. They kept coming out of place.

Mine have adhesive so they stick to the leg levelers. They've never fallen off.

The produce I linked to is the same brand, but I got the octagon shped ones.  The top side is foam so what ever sit on top of it sinks in, does not have problems with furniture staying on them.

Whenever I see this thread in the main forum display, I can't help but laugh. We used to call the little sackful of hamburgers you get at White Castle "sliders" -- for what should be obvious reasons.

No way. Nothing on this planet can compare with some White Castle burgers.  There are no other burgers that are teh same.....

If you really wanted to, you could stuff an entire slider in your mouth.  Bigmouths like Zakk or Bones could prolly fit 2
