Josh - what do you have now, what do you need.
Do you have a main PC and just want something to throw in the cab? Do you need a main computer and a cab PC? Do you want an upright and eventually a cocktail cab also?
The first T-bird system is decent for emulation. It should play most games pretty well, but you'll probably want to use an older MAME for everything except the newer titles that aren't supported in the older version. Not bad for $50, but if you want the newer (not newest that are unplayable on anything) games, you might be better spending around $125 for something like a Sempron 2500.
what about this:
ASUS P3B-F rev 1.03 with manual
Intel P3 450MHz with retail fan. 512k L2 cache and 100MHz external bus speed
he says if i buy the first deal for $50, he will throw these in for $20, what do you guys think? should i get these? will these be good in a cab? i know its only 450MHz, nut it has to be worth $20 right. I donthave any spare money to bethrowing around so i will only add this if its worth it.
Like I said, I had a Pentium 200 for MAME. It would play the early 80's games on an old version of MAME. A Duron 650 was much better, but still mostly just the mid 80's games and the early 90's games with some frameskip. If you wanted to put the T-bird in the cab and keep this for web-surfing, I could see that. No memory with that one, btw.
oh and he says if i buy everything for $70 (shipped) he would throw in this:
socket A mobo (jetway 663ASPRO).
Not real familiar with JetWay, but what I have read was not favorable. A google search turned up this (among others) but I didn't follow the link.
AMD Processor Support Forum > T Bird Athlons
its a Jetway 663aspro, not much info on the jetway site for it anymore as it's an old board but i'm pretty sure it only takes up to a 1200T/bird with the ...
Again - Decide what you want/need and go from there. None of these seem like bad deals for used equipment, but they aren't deals that I'd be kicking myself if I passed on.
Just my 2 cents, YMMV.
