Sanwa harness pinout
« on: May 19, 2005, 12:54:39 am »
I'm about to wire a couple of SANWA joys and was curious if anyone could tell me what the pinout is for the PC board on the joy. There are 5 pins so it makes sense that one pin is ground and the remaining 4 are up, down, left, and right but there are just enough possible combo's to make me want to have a beer and once that happens this panel will not get wired. Since i dont have the original harness it wont help to use color as a referrence.

Thanks,

-Goz

Ground will almost certainly be the far left, or far right pin. Should take about 20 seconds to figure out with a multimeter (or you can just look at the traces), sorry I can't be more helpful, but I am at work right now and don't have access to my candy cab at the moment.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Paige,

Thanks and I figured ground would be either position. I was hoping to get the full pin orientation from someone however as I'd like to the make the harness without needing to try each wire individually prior. If I could make the harness while I'm at work (when I have more spare time) as opposed to running through each wire with the wife insesently nagging in the background things would go far more smoothly.  ;D

Thanks,

I just searched again and I think I found the post you are referring to:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,36561.0.html

And here is the answer:

With the pins facing towards you starting from left:

ground
down
up
right
left

I'll hope that the guy who posted this info with just 1 post to his name was right. Unless anyone can confirm it's something different.
