I guess I will go with the competition then. Most of the games I want to play are from the 90's, and while I do love me my classics and will probably play them every now and then, they aren't the main reason I'm building a cabinet. I want something that can handle fighting games, beat 'em ups, and action games, and handle them
well. If I have to choose between having some disfunctionality with some classics, or having
alot of disfunctionality with newer games, I think I'll choose the former. And I'll be saving some money too, which could easily make me feel better if I start to wonder if I'm missing out on true 4 way control.
And besides, it's not like I can't ever build another cabinet devoted to the retro classics. I doubt that my first BYOAC project will be my last, because it seems like a very rewarding hobby so far, and I haven't even gotten to the money spending part yet.
