WICO Leaf Switch for Joysticks
« on: March 26, 2005, 02:18:37 pm »
Is eBay the only way of finding replacement leaf switches for WICO joysticks?

I got a set of 4 WICO 8-Ways off eBay recently and half of the leaf switches are busted on one end.(Where you would normally connect the wires.)

I browsed WICO's catalog and I saw this thread http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,18867.0.html

...and was not encouraged.

I guess If I don't find 'em, I could permanently solder to the connections.

Ebay is a good source for them, I beleive iman-tis may still have some available. You can almost solder the wires anywhere on the leaf switch, just as long as it doesn't interfere with the operation / movement or touch the other leaf. Good luck.

I was told that these work with the Wicos but I would e-mail Centsible amusements to confirm this.

I'd be curious to know how well they hold up, are they quality made? Just wondering because I know some of their other products are questionable. Anybody use these and know the answers to this?

I've bought many translucent leaf switch push buttons from them. Now, the button holders that they sent me are the black ones that have the leaf switch molded right into the plastic and so far they work fine (going on three years and no adjustment needed). I see that they now sell the white higher quality Wico style holders that most likely use the same seperate screw on leaf switches that I posted in the link. These are most likely made by a different manufacturer then the one piece black ones that I have. I haven't bought any of these yet but

I contacted Ian(imantis) and he said he had 4 left which I kindly said I would take for $6.95.

I am currently putting an order together from BobRoberts and I'll ask if he has any more.

Thanks for the tips.

I usually still use the ones where they are busted at the end, I just use a little solder to build up a connection area and then solder the wire right on, they still work fine that way.
