Happ's monitor bezel?
« on: October 20, 2002, 11:30:41 pm »
which of the Happ's bezels is better, the plastic or the foam?  Also, does anyone know how big the 19" bezel actually is?  Happ's site says you can trim it to fit.  And finally, does anyone have any pictures of their cabs with a Happ's bezel?

Thanks in advance!

Sure have...I was trying to built a site with fortunecity but they are all Fu_ked now(forgot password) but the pics are still there so look.

The bezel is every penny worth it.Even though I ended up paying about $31 shiping for marque retainer and the bezel. ;DI was still happy ;D

25" square; 27" bezel is 29.5" square

>Happ's site says you can trim it to fit.

Yep - very easy to trim.

No pics of my cab yet, but here are a few others:

I have one but unfortunately it's too big for a PC 19"
monitor.  Anyone know of a good solution for a 19" PC
monitor?

I've got a 19" Happ bezel. Installed it and it looks great. I can (probably) get a picture soon if you want one. But otherwise I would go with plastic over foam hands down. I don't even know what the foam looks like, but the plastic is the one original machines use anyways. Trimming is a snap. All you have to do is score it and tear it.

The Happs foam monitor bezel is HORRIBLE.  It's like that blackish/grayish packaging foam that they often use in pc peripheral boxes.

I used black posterboard from my local art store to cut out a custom bezel..  Fits perfect and looks great.  It took a bit of time to get it to fit the curve of the monitor, but everything seems to take time on these cab projects. :)

I cut regular white paper into small rectangles, and just kept taping them together (against the screen) to match the curve, then traced this onto the posterboard.  The key is to buy a huge piece of poster board, and trace all four sides connected.  This way the bezel supports itself when cut out, and you only have to tape it shut on one corner.  I used another piece of posterboard to cut out the flat square part that you'd tape to the glass.  That was the easy part. :)

I will be using a 19" PC monitor as well, so will I have problems getting the bezel to work with it??

I think the problem associated with a 19" computer monitor is just that it has it's own bezel that the Happs bezel wouldn't fit into. I say... CUT IT! Get that nasty old monitor casing out of there!  :P Besides, that way you can expose the mountings on the inside. Might as well do it up right.

hmm, maybe I'll take it apart and see what I can do... So, if I rip it apart, the Happ's bezel should work ok?   How do you handle all the monitor controls and buttons after the case is removed?

I cut out the control panel w/ a dremmel and extended the wires the length of my cab and mounted it on top of the cab.
So I can degauss etc easily.  I no longer have the original bezel so I need to come up w/ something for the 19" monitor since the Happs' one is too large.

Happ's monitor bezel too big? Then cut it dear Henry...

The Happ 27" bezel was actually a little too big for my TV since I decided to leave it in its case. I ended up cutting about a 1" horizontal section out of the center of the bezel and using krazy glue to reattach it. Yes, you can see the seams, but the smoked glass and bezel art should camouflage them nicely.

Good Luck!
