My joystick don't work.
« on: February 01, 2005, 12:36:54 am »
When i hit any direction the joystick base doesn't push the microswitches far enough to click. whats happened? the joys stick is a 4/8 way X-arcade
Why are all the good, cheap lowboys in brisbane?

Is it a full X-Arcade unit you are using? Or have you just put X-Arcade sticks in your own panel?  If it's your own panel have you made the hole large enough for the stick to move fully?  You can tweak the metal actuators on the mictroswitches if they are just very slightly out, though generally this shouldn't be necessary.

btw, your describing the perfect actions of a 4way joysticks... And your described it as a 4/8 x-arcade.  You should find out how to switch between 4 and 8 way and change it...

only difference between a 4way and 8way is if you can hit diagonals.

Sometimes a problem can develp of the joystick is not reassembled correctly.  EG a spacer in the wrong place.  Make sure the end spacer has the bigger section where the micro switches are and the smaller end out where the washer clips on.

please make it so a 14 year old can understand!

I could've understood that when I was 14.

A better question would have been "which part is the spacer?".  14 year olds have different levels of understanding, so noone here will know how to express it without dumbing it down to 5-year old level and/or being sarcastic about it.

Specific questions are better than vague demands.
