Front end help
« on: October 10, 2002, 10:32:17 pm »
Ok where to start. What I am looking to do, is have a front end that will totally hide. I know there are some things like this around but I want one that is extremly customizable (backgrounds, skins, add/remove emulators, etc...).

I thought I would ask here before I spend hours looking. The other thing I was thinking of is making my own in flash/vb. Why vb? because its what I know.

Flash on the other hand I dont. But I really like the way you can do things and not have it look windows-like. The idea I have is kind of hard to explain.

Sort of a 3d menu. It would be sort of a ring with pictures of all the systems and it would spin when the user presses left/right. it would be like a "O" but sort of laying flat down so you only see the few in the front. i know this probably doesnt make sense. but i doubt i could make it anyway.

ok kind of off track there because if i can find something that is customizable enough i wont need to do all that. any suggestions?

I bet when lazarus 4 comes out with 3Darcade's 3D models you could make a skin that does that.  not sure, will have to talk to HC on that one, this post belongs in the software forum.

Almost didn't see this one.  As sirp said... wrong forum. :)

Yes laz 4.0 will have various flash effects associated with the plugin.  And it is as customizable and un-windoze like as it gets as far as front-ends go right now.

But what you described is >p<'s front end in cyclarcade mode...  Just replace the default cabinet model with some kind of floating monitor/marquee model and your all set.

yeah what you describe is 100% my fe in cylarcade mode and my favorite mode in my fe...to see it properly when you boot it up the first time...hit 5 and select arcade to go to the full mame set...then hit 7 to change form the fps arcade to cylarcade...see cfg\fe.cfg for all the keys you can use to find games faster then by rotating one by one ;-)
