can you please name some problems if

i grab 2 wireless dance pads and use a usb ps2 converter? will i get some problems? also would it be a good idea to squash the mats in between 2 pieces of mdf? (say 3mm?)

I couldn't help you with the questions pertaining hooking them up but I must say that I would honestly not recommend you go with a soft mat. I would take a wireless controller and make my own ddr mat, they last longer, are decently inexpensive to make, and not too difficult to do. If you do get really into ddr those soft mats will slide all over the place. Check out ddrfreak.com if you'd like to consider making your own.

Make sure that you pick the correct USB to PS2 converter! For DDR games you need to be able to press left and right (or up and down) at the same time. A lot of converters don't support that. They map the PS2 buttons to a joystick and joysticks cannot physically be up and down at the same time. It's a mistake in implementation of the adapter, especially if you can't remap the controls (like my USB adapter - "Kicky-Joy". "Kicky-Joy" doesn't work for dance games.
