Your measurement that measures 5.75".  The one closest to the wiring harness is 'up.'

Plug it in to your computer to see.

I think you would also be better off to use a mounting plate. It makes it so MUCH simpler.

did you mean to say "BETSON" by chance?  not questioning your typing skills by no means , but it could throw some folks off the trail.

That picture has the ball at an angle. I installed mine in 5/8 particle board using the mounting plate.

The plug for the trackball is situated at the BOTTOM right. Your trackball will be correctly mounted if you position it this way.

In your picture, the arrow pointing to 7 o'clock is the TOP arrow or the one you want pointing to your monitor.

I had 40 trackballs, and tested them all. Every one the wiring was on the *top.*
