Which side art do you think is best?
« on: October 25, 2004, 09:45:38 am »
I really love this Donkey Kkong side art! As soon as I  saw it I just knew I had to have this on my cab. (Thanks to whoever designed this..... it's brilliant.  :D)

I've decided to go with MameMarquees for the artwork on my cab, as I hear great things about him from lots of people on here. I've got two images below of my cab. Please forgive the poor use of my paint package!  ???  I've never really used it before today, and it took me ages just to get these done.  ::)

I'm trying to use the design of my cab more effectively, rather than just have a rectangular piece of art in the middle.... but does it work?  I realise that Scott may need to print two pieces to make this up, but I accept that.

I  cannot go lower down the sides of the cab as the top part overlaps the bottom. I'd need to add some more wood down the sides and make sure that the gap is a perfect join with no step. And perhaps this would be too much effort for the little gain I would get. The DK artwork could only really be lengthened by about 6" otherwise the aspect ratio would sttart to go out.

So what do you guys think? First or second.......

since nobody else has replyed...

I like the angled one... but that being said... think about the opposite side... the MAME logo is in italics.  (meaning it leans)  you might want to consider another mockup... just take your original pic and flip it to where it looks like the reverse side (or take another pic) and try it again.

Good call!  I never thought of that.  :-[    Anyway.... I gave it a shot in Photo and came up with this......

I had to skew the picture to try and keep the italic looking Mame logo. My very first effort looked OK to start with, but the slant effect actually straightened up the MAME lettering. What do you reckon to it now?

This means that it would be much easier to do this in two parts. Just a standard Oscar Mame logo tilted one way and the other should be fine.  It's just that in Paint you have to mess with skewing and such to make it look right. I don't think I should complicate matters by trying to get this to be a single piece artwork design.

P.S. Sorry for  not posting in Artwork section. My bad  :-\
