Indianapolis Arcade Auction

I saw there is an coin operated machine auction at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Oct 9th.  Has anyone been to one of these?  I think they have them once or twice a year.  

Also,  Are there any arcade dealers in the Indianapolis area that  would have some good deals on cabinets?  I am finishing my MAME cabinet, but I thought I might pick up another dedicated cabinet of some kind

Yea I have been.  I will not go back. They have a bunch of crap to auction off and that has in the past taken a min of 2 hours.  then they start the games and counter top things.  You are looking at spending the entire day.  Plan it will end around 8 or later at night. The last one I went to was there until 945 pm.  They never start on time.  I have heard people say that you get better prices there for the games you sell and I would agree but geeze is your time really worth it?  I go to super auctions sales and your out by 3 pm cause they do not sell the arcade parts, just vids, pins and darts.  You may pay a little more with fees and such but my time is worth the extra 25 bucks a game I spend so I can be on the road home by 330.

Yes, the one that takes all day is at the fairgrounds.  Don't get me wrong, I do not mind staying late at auctions as long as they are doing games and not crap parts like broken monitors, manuals, beeny babies and weight systems.  I have been trying to go the that link you sent for the past month and once I click on the likn for that auction, it does not come up.

I went to this auction last year and there are some things you should know. If you are going to buy, I would BEWARE. I went looking for a MAME machine candidate before I decided to build my own. My wife and I were looking at the various machines, most in nice shape. We got to talking to a few of the other vendors there at the auction. They explained that there was an auction company that puts it on. We were told to watch a couple of guys that were employees of the auction company that would be in the audience trying to raise the bids. Sure enough when it started, they were always the ones jacking up the bids. I later seen them well after most people left counting money for the auction company which proved to me that they were employees. I had also watched the vendors that gave me advice on not to bid when these guys do. They followed their own advice and did not as well. I'm glad that I was told that piece of info. Just thought I would pass it on for everyones best interest.
