Should do I think - if the converter lets it work in windows, then it will work in mame. (in theory). Do a search for "driving controls" - its a bit more complicated than it first appears.

Arcade driving games use wither a 360 degree wheel (free spinning, does not return to centre - super sprint, pole position, super off road etc..) or a 270 degree whell (doesn't turn full circle, returns to centre - spy hunter, roadblasters, outrun) and apparantly using one with the other does not work well. Your psx wheel will be a 270 (I believe) and should work with those games.

Having said that I don't use psx kit on a pc, so I'm assuming there is a driver that works in windows that is used with the converter box to allow it appear as an input device that windows recognises.

I use my actlabs steering wheel with a psx->usb converter (because I couldn't get the gameport carts to work).

Anyway, it works fine in mame.  But I found that they conversion defaults didn't work well in some PC games..

And that sucks because PC driving games are really better then most emulated driving games (that work on a real system).

These 2 are compatible with EVERYTHING (Wheels, dance pads, controllers, first and third party)

These 2 work with controllers, the support for dancepads and other peripherals have been mixed, some work, some don't depends on the game, system, and peripheral.

Hope that helps!

It really all comes down to wether the drivers you use, and most importantly, the SOFTWARE/GAME you use full support it.

cool, no doubt after a week or 2 using a 270 i will be wanting to open up and attach an optical to read the shafts rotation, try making it a 360 .

Does this spoil the 270 functionality?  ie having the wheel turn back to neutral position?
