Convert Tron (Twin Tigers) Spinner to MAME?
« on: May 24, 2004, 08:53:13 pm »
I am building a MAME cab (conversion) and want to use two spinners I got out of the orig. machine, Twin Tigers-converted from Tron.

I have the opti-pac interface, but my spinners have 10 wires coming from them.  Any idea where I can find out what each wire does?

The wires are (left to r):
Red/white stripe
blue
green
white/grey stripe
black
brown
green/red stripe
white
yellow/green stripe
orange

(see attached pic)

Thanks for any help,
-saxmantex

The easiest solution would be to pick up a couple of Oscar's optic boards, and use those in place of the originals.

See this thread for some info:

In a nutshell, if you aren't looking to do some involved hacking to the Midway optic board (and it may not even work anyway), then replacing the optic board would probably be the easier route.

Just to add another bit of personal experience, I've hooked Oscar's boards to spinners trackballs, and some other homebrew stuff I'm working on (notably a Major Havoc spinner), and never had a single problem with them.

If it has teeth, and you can get them to go between the emitter and detector, it'll probably work with Oscar's board.

Thanks so much for the help.  I'm going to probably go with the oscar interface to attach to the existing spinners.
Thanks a bunch!

Do you know if the original Tron Spinner can be hacked with a SilkStick spinner ?
