Mounting Circuit Boards.

I've got to get my cabinet finished and in the corner (I'm in a 1 bedroom apartment, and the cabinet is taking up a good corner of my living room) and right now i've basically got everything just thrown in there..  The computer is in a case, not mounted outside, and the interface cards are lying on the bottom of the cab.  I've got to get everything mounted.  I want to mount boards w/ pcb standoffs, but am confused about how this works..

Are all i've been able to find at 2 different radioshacks, but these will only literally act as a standoff, I can't secure the board to the inside of the cabinet with these, can I?  Screw goes through hold in board, into standoff, other end of standoff screws into.. ?

Can someone help me or point me in the right direction.

You're right about those.

Get a non-working Bic pen.  Take the enclosure off, trim into 1/2" lengths, and affix the board to the cab with wood screws.

Don't have a Bic pen?  Use nylon spacers.  You should be able to pick this up at any hardware store (NOT a Home Depot, a real hardware store)

Failing that...maybe someone on the board will take pity on you.

along these same ideas, buy a 12" (or smaller) length of 1/4" plastic tubing from your local hardware store, trim and use wood screws as described above.  Should set you back all of about 37 cents.

Some of the medium sized beads from HobbyLobby or Micheals will work with wood screws.

For the wood screws, I would reccomend pan head wood screws.  The regular(counter sunk) kind are more likely to crack the circuit board it tightened too much.
