412 in 1 trackball problem. Getting -5 volts!
« on: May 31, 2020, 07:12:14 am »
Hi...I bought a brand new track ball and harness for the 412 in 1. For the life of me cannot figure out why it will not work. looking through some old pictures on this forum I found a picture where a guy had had one plugged into the 412 in 1 Elf and it looked to me like his plug was opposite of mine meaning the part that has the key so you can only plug it in one way looked opposite. So I decided to check voltage at the plug going into trackball and instead of getting + 5 volts I am getting - 5 volts. So I will post a picture of my plug where you could see the side that has the key preventing you from plugging in backwards has the black wire. Just wondering if anybody else has a picture they could show of their plug to see if mine was made wrong. And another question if it was and it put the wrong voltage to my new trackball could that have frieed those boards as well? Because the place I got these from may not be happy not that it was my fault in any way but it does seem kind of unbelievable that this could happen. Any advice or answers would be very much appreciatedr
