trackball help needed
« on: February 17, 2004, 07:03:09 am »
Today the trackball I orderd ariived. I hooked it up and it seems to work correctly (the mousepointer moves when I move the trackball).

However: Marble Madness is barely playable, it seems the trackball is too slow. I found similar results in Missile Command: I had to roll the ball like crazy to get anywhere. I also tried Space Harrier, and in that game it works perfectly.

How can I tweak the trackball for each game? I figured that I could modify my mouse sensitivity, but then again wouldn't that also influence the playability in Space Harrier?

I'm using the Ultimarc Minipac + ulitmarc trackball
I'm currently using Mame32 as frontend (might switch later once I got my cab finished). In Mame32 I found no option to set the sensitivity (did I miss it somewhere?) just a 'enable mouse input' checkbox.

Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance.

Go into the game hit the tab button and scroll down to Analoge Controls and adjust the sensitivity, easy. ;D

I ran into the same problem when mouse hacking a steering wheel that I'm doing right now. At first I thought, well this is never going to work right, but once you start fiddling with the analogue settings in the indivual game setup screen you can work wonders. Can't wait to get my steering wheel panel built.
