Hi

I got this Hantarex polo (I think that it is a Hantarex) 25-25 multisync chassis from a frend of mine.. he did not know if it worked, but it did.  :applaud:
The colors and vertical size I have managed to adjust so it looked great.

I am unable to adjust the horizontal size, there are no nobs to adjust horizontal size, so I  have tried to turn the horizontal with coil next to the flyback without any change at all.

Can it be that it not is compatible with my videocolor A66 28" inch monitor?

I am also unable to find a a manual/schematics for this chassis :(

All controls including horizontal size (H.AMP) are on the remote board. If it doesn't work something's faulty (T115, D141). The chassis is made by Semio.

Hi

Now I got the time to look at the chassis

I am able to locate  T115 mounted at the heatsink

I can not find D141 - only a D140..

Here are the schematics of this monitor:

(copy and paste in a new window or they will be rescaled)

D142 (mounted on the heat sink to the left of the HOT) is alternative to D140.

Hi

I have now tested T115 (BDX530) it tests OK
Also the D141 (BY459) test OK

I am unable to adjust pin cusn and the width size of the picture.

Can the issue be some of the gray poly caps behind the Flyback..

Because as I remember I had the pin cusn and wide size issue on another Hantarex polo, then I changed the C175 a 12nf poly cap, then the issue where solved.

Can it be the same issue on this chassis?

You can check C173 and C184 which is in parallel with D141, then T114, T301 and IC301.

Hi

I have now tested C173,C184,D141,T114,T301 all components test OK.
I have no idea in how to test IC301 (TD8145)  - I might order some new ones in china. :)

I have also done a electrolytic cap kit on the chassis, also tested the volts from the PSU, they are all as in the schematic.

But I am still unable to adjust the picture in the sides, it is still curved.

There is some jumpers that I am uinable to find any information on, what do they do?
K104 (with the green plug) it is pluged in the middle
J107 (with the blue wire) it is pluged in to K117

I have noticed on your picture the J107 (blue wire) is connected to K117 pin 1?

You can try but I think the IC rarely goes bad. At this point an oscilloscope would be useful to check if the sawtooth signal from the vertical deflection is arriving at the IC and if the correcting parabolic signal is coming out of it. Is the IC getting power (25V) at least?

The capacitance across the hot collector line and the horizontal deflection yoke is used to correct raster distortion in the form of compression at the sides or in the center (similar to linearity but symmetrical). This is called S-correction and the S-correction capacitor is C181. Different tubes and different scan frequencies require a different correcting capacitance so by setting the jumper across pin 2 and 3 of K104 you modify the capacitance of C181 with C182 in parallel with it when the chassis is at 15KHz. By setting the J107 jumper on pin 1 of K117 you put C200 in parallel with C180, the retrace capacitor. The modification of this capacitance is necessary when the chassis runs at 15KHz.

Hi

I have tested that there is 12.4V at pin 1 at the IC301.

Hmm now it would be an idea to put together the china oscilloscope, and figure out how to use it  :D
I guess that i need to test all the testpoints as mentioned in the schematics

It needs 25V at pin 6.

just want to add that if that is a direct clone of the polo 1 15/25 manual switching chassis then the deflection yoke horizontal specs are way different to a standard polo

Yes, that's why there is an impedance adapter mounted on the heat sink for 1.5mH tubes.

Yes I have this strange thing on the chassis, I where wondering what that did. :dunno
So its an "impedance adapter"  :notworthy: - so I need to use this adapter if the yoke has a lower horisontal value than 1.5mh?

The yoke that I am testing on has the following values
HR: 2.2 ohm 1.56mH
VR: 6.4 ohm 10.86mH

Tube model: A59ECF50X05

In my test/faultfinding I have not used the adapter ....... is that my fault?  :banghead:

Maybe it's my fault for not thinking of that after seeing this mistake done so many times by Italian collectors. Yes, with that tube you need the adapter.

Hi

No not your fault at all.. I could had tried it :)

I have now used the "imperdance adapter" - and the picture got wider, just a bit too wide, but it is an 25" monitor that I am testing on, so I think that a 28" would fit perfect.

But I am still unable to adjust the "curves" nothing happens when i turn "Pin cus". or the "Trap" pot.
Also nothing happens if I turn the horizontal with coil, I have tried to turn it all the way don, and also all the way out... no change at all...

Well, just remember to always use the adapter. 25" or 28" makes no difference. Now you're back to the original problem: no EW correction. The correction goes through the bridge coil but I doubt it's bad. You can check it though.

Hi Grant

If I turn the H.AMP pot I am able to make a tiny adjustment in <-> size but only a 1-2 mm.
If i turn the H.PASE pot I can move the picture around sideways as normal, no problem there.

I have this schematics

similar faults on polo 2 i have had in the past have been mostly what has already been checked, T115 and T114 and east/west circuit
have you checked r224 100r
is there a reason d140 is not installed on that chassis

Hi Grant

I have pulled out R224 and it tests as 98.9 Ohm, so that resistor is also good.

Strange fault it is ..

I have pulled this chassis out again, I want to fint the fault :)

A question..B+ on this chassis is that also 145V?
It is only 108V...

At this point I would replace the TDA8145. B+ is 118V for 15KHz and 160V for 25KHz.

Hi

Thanks :)  :notworthy:

Changed the TDA8145 but no change to the picture. :censored:

Had the monitor on for 10 minutes, when I looked my green color where suddenly missing... It wan to to give me a fight...  :badmood:

Well tried to find my missing green...
1. Tested that if I moment-ly added ground to the green pin on the crt I got green screen.
2. The big resistor on the neck board, it tested fine (the one in the middle do not get warm as the other does.)
3. re flowed the ribbon cable to the neckboard, still no green.
4. Tested the green drive transistor T504 BF859, it where fine
5. Tested the transistor T505 C547b, it where fine
6. tested the electrolytic caps on the neck, c504 tested fine
7. Tested d503 it tested fine
8.Tested R533

hmm...... :hissy: :hissy:

If you have voltage on the green input pin of the LM1203 but nothing on the output the IC is bad.

As for the other issue I don't think there's much left to check. C302 maybe.

Hi

I have now put in a new LM1203 - still no green
Backtracked from ribbon cable at neck board to  R154  OK ->  T105 (C547B) OK

C302 is changed, still curved..  :hissy:  :dunno

Started to mark the components that I have checked in the schematic, it seems that there still are a lot to check, and I might have checked stuff that not are related to green.... :banghead:
Marked yellow ->components that I need to check in order to get green back.
Marked Green -> components that are checked

The chassis from Hell   :laugh2:

But checking voltage will tell you if the signal is present or not so you know if you have to look ahead in the circuit or back.

Well... now I also have lost my red...only blue left  :dizzy:

I could wiggle the big resistor  to the red R526, then I could get the red back, so I reflowed it but no luck.
Pulled out the resistor and checked it, it still fine = 6K8

When I has the monitor on, the resistor to the red gets really hot...? what can cause it to get so hot?

I have also checked the BF859 on the red gun, thats fine

Hi

Fu*k   :censored: me sideways... and call me eddy!   :banghead:

I have now all my colors back!  :applaud:

1. The missing green removed all the solder on T504, and cleaned the area with alcohol, solder T504 back and - blue color!
2. The missing red.. well... between T502  and R503 there where NO connection, I could not see that it where a bad solder connection, but my multimeter showed OL
Ran a jumper, and RED where back! -> and now the big R527 resistor does not get so hot as before, so it where caused by no connection.

So back to my curved image... but I think that I might solve that one day also  :laugh2:
