Q: mounting the T-Stick in a CP

I bought a set of T-Sticks and I'm quite happy with them, I tested the sticks in a cardboard test panel and I'm ready to build the sticks in my cab. So I was wondering what the best way is to mount the T-Stick on a CP?
A) The metal plate on top of the wood in de CP
B) The metal plate under the wood of the CP, the shaft through a small hole.
C) Other...

I figured the stick is quite short so case A would be the best for the 'most' stick. But this also means that you'd have to cut quite a hole in the wood. Also, the metal doesn't give the panel a nice flat look.
In case B, how thick would the CP be? The thickness of the CP would mean that the stick is shorter?
A search in this forum showed me that a lot of people use the T-Stick so I was wondering: how did you build the CP?

1-1/8" hole(same as buttons) thru 3/4" panel
Screwed in from the bottom, 1/2" length woodscrews

It is a little short, but I dont mind it at all

I've done it both ways, and I like the metal plate on top, just because of the shaft length of the T-Stick.  Now that there are a variety of stick lengths and ball tops, I'll have to see which works best, but with the original shaft I think it's worth the effort to route a depression for the metal plate on top of the CP.
