What size and what to use on cab
« on: April 28, 2018, 08:38:39 am »
Hi guys

I've a  decision  to make .  In planing a cabinet but need to figure out what to use .

I would like a vewlix  cabinet  design . But want a flat top and to use and 22 inch monitor  as a dynamic marguee.

The display units I have are.
A 40 inch lcd tv
17 inch laptop screen
24 inch tv
27 inch crt tv (to big) with scart
8.9 notebook screen.
And 15 inch pc monitor.

I would like dynamic marguee, maby monitor under the cp with game controls.

I'm getting good video card  with 3 outputs
Beefy.pc or maby  laptop to run games. It had hdmi, vga and display port (non teknoparrot )

I was thinking of making inch one player with trackball and install a logitec wheel and maby gun.

I want to just run coin op games and teknoparrot.

Also wondering inch tv rotating screen would b poss on vewlix .

These are ideas I have inch ten my head . I think I've drawn arcade modified  version of the vewlix loads of times.

Thats a nice idea, to use monitor as a dynamic marque. Are you going to run a screen saver on it to show different pics?

I think most important thing is how wide the cab will be. The marquee (in my opinion) should be same width or if you have some good cab plan where they can be different width, of course thats an option.

Post definetely more pics on the way! :)

GL! :applaud:

You are trying to do too much. Simplify your goals.

OK I would make a Vewlix machine and instead of having the perspex Marquee holder put the 15" Monitor up there.  Also as Mike A said, your trying to do too much, Simplify.

Recommend 27" monitor (Rotating CRT would be sweet, but you would have to build a massive cab) so 24" LCD Build much more logical idea.  Rotating is possible but recommend putting that to the side for now.

Build a good 2 player 7 button machine with a Trackball in the center,  you should be able to do it without too much problem.  You will need to design the machine around the monitor you use. 27" will be around 2Ft wide so scale the build accordingly.
