Seven years in this hobby already? Damn...

My first major project was the dual screen, four player, beast. Every project after downsized the controls I put into it. 99.9% of the time, when I'm around an emulator running, I'm either the only one playing it, or it's a two player turn game. And for many years, pedestal builds have made the most sense to me (emulator wise). There have been a few badass ones on here over the years, but I just stumbled upon my favorite. I've leaned harder to the pin side of the hobby for the past several years, and I really enjoy PBFX2. I want to build one now...

I'm not a fan about the VR thing though.  Maybe as a pedestal for a HDTV though would be cool.  Part of the appeal (for me at least) in a game room is when you walk in and see everything on and working.  But a pedestal in the corner with a VR set doesn't showcase it until you put it on.  (Less "curb appeal" if you will).

Would love to see this build though.

Pinball buttons on any arcade cab suck. VPin cabs with arcade controls have never looked nor functioned well. This fixes both of those personal issues with me. VR? Yeah, who cares.

You'd think I'd hate that thing, but truth be told, it knows what it wants to be. I wouldn't have it in my game room personally, but I can't say that I don't  get it. I prefer it to Vpincabs with stretched or 6 foot tall backglasses, that's for sure. Or those godawful Vcabs they had at ZapCon that were perfect for A MAN CAVE BROSEF.

That's the whole point behind it, though. It does both. It's not trying to be an arcade cabinet playing pinball, nor is it a VPin with controls tacked on.

I gotta disagree here. If you take the arcade controls out of the pedestal equation, this becomes a bulky 2 button controller with a coin door. I don't think something like this should be in what we consider a game room. But it is perfect for emulation on a big screen. I prefer to stand when playing arcade games. Right now, the beast is in storage, and I play MAME on a 55" in front of my couch. I have a "fight stick" that I use for emulation, but I don't like sitting. Definitely one of the most narrow pedestals I've seen too, making it that much easier to stash away. Throw a powered sub in that thing and I'd be happy.

I used to put a mini-panel with pinball buttons on a bar stool in front of my plasma to play PinballFX2 on the 360.  As I have recently gotten back into it (and Pinball Arcade) on the PS4, I've taken to just using it on my lap from the sofa.  But the last time I played, I envisioned this very design, but parked in front of a wall-mounted monitor rather than using VR.  Very cool to see that someone else did something like this already.

And I'm with Nephasth on the controls.  I'll be doing the same on my pincab, regardless of who thinks it looks funny

...and when you have more room you can add the coffin and the rest of the cabinet.

I think it is a great concept and should be copied extensively.
