Grounding Control Panel Contols
« on: May 04, 2017, 08:54:20 pm »
Hi everyone, Ive a large 4 player CP with spinner and trackball attached. They work ok but - if im honest - Im not happy with the grounding. The wiring of the panel is complicated by using LED buttons (of which there are many). Frankly its no as neat as I would like.

As I say,  it works and at the moment the ground from all the controls is tied into my Ultimarc iPac controllers ground pin.

Does anyone have a better recommendation?

To be fair, Im not looking for a critique of my wiring - just advice or alternate points to ground my controls - unless everyone is grounding into their controller PCB?

Not sure I fully understand your problem. Is the problem that you don't like having all your individual grounds running to your encoder?
Are you daisy-chaining?

Either way you could have all your grounds run to a single terminus that connects to your ipac's ground pin. For instance, terminate all your grounds with a ring terminal, secure them with a nut and bolt, and have one lead running to your ipac.
