Pre-ordered the Art of Atari book and thought others might be interested, releases October 25th. Definitely fond memories of Atari art from my childhood.

Nearly every piece of art that Atari made was good. Their box art and game posters really made you want to play their games.

Amazon doesn't have any pages avaialble for preview, but artofatari.com does.
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

I agree, their illustrations really sparked the imagination in an era when video game graphics were still in their infancy. I'm interested to read some of the history of the artists, the book looks very well done.

For anyone who likes Atari art and is looking for some game room decor check out the 2600 cartridge canvas prints from Tom at CanvasQuest. A little pricey but very cool, he does other game related canvas prints as well.

That's a cool site. Thanks for sharing that. On a related note, HighScoreSaves.com also sells reproduction arcade game posters. I think the Asteroids Deluxe makes a great poster for a game room.

Agreed. You wrote a book with callbacks to the 80s, Ernest, you're not Carl Sagan talking about the Cosmos...

I ordered this book months ago. My copy should be here tomorrow.

Received my book as well. Great quality throughout with lots of content. $29 for a hardcover this extensive is very reasonable, it even has a little bookmark ribbon.

Very nice indeed.

I'm sure one could derive a lot of inspirational art for future builds from that book.  ;)

I graduated from MAME a long time ago. I don't come here for that kind of talk. I like to see what other people are doing, but if I just came here to talk arcade stuff, I would have quit this site a long time ago, it's only arcade related stuff seems to be "how do I get this Raspberry Pi to work" and "what should I name my gigantic cabinet?" I think a lot of us come here for The Slice of Life this place represents.

Getting back to the book, I opened up my copy last night. Damn, it's gorgeous. The one thing I respect about this book too, Tim got it off the ground without having to resort to Kickstarter or anything like that. In this day and age, that's refreshing.

Yes, it's a very nice looking book in the photos.  I used to have an Atari Space Riders and always really liked the art on it.

It was my first pinball machine.  The attract mode did more than the game did.  Still would like to own a Middle Earth some day.

Let's put it this way, I didn't do the Kickstarter. When the pdf version came out, I plunked down $10 for it. I looked through it once, and I've never felt the urge to look at it again.

I got this for Christmas from my daughter and it lives up to the hype.  Just gorgeous.  It surprised me how much actual text there is in the book.  There is a lot of history of Atari and the artwork.  For some reason I thought it was more of a book of posters.

Has anybody seen where you can purchase larger versions of the artwork?  I'd love to have a couple of these in print form to hang in the game room.
