Sorry for disappearing for so long - work and school have been a nightmare. I've received all my necessary parts, soldered a working switch connection, but there's still one thing in my way - the mounting solution for the aimtrak board. I purchased two SEGA IR caps/holders, and have absolutely savaged one with a hacksaw and file trying to create a space for the board to slide into - ultimately, I couldn't get the board in far enough and the crosshair was only really useful in the middle of the screen.

Does anyone have any ideas for a simple DIY solution including the authentic IR caps?

Alright! I'm back! I'm going to figure this out! Somehow!

So I do have a basic plan. The Aimtrak board fits inside the muzzle of the gun comfortably, without anything around it. What I'm going to attempt is find someone to scan and 3D print a modified version of the IR cap/tube (which I believe should come apart in the middle and have space for the hard corners of the board to poke through) use injection molding to get plastic castings of that, remove the very end and get circular cuts of IR plastic glued over the edge. And hopefully, hopefully then all I have to worry about is figuring out a cable retention method/finding those great big butt bolts/hoses that the Sega guns always have.
