Lmao at Cynicaster's completely accurate description of the typical dude bro Golden Tee player.

I do like to roll it in that manner for those games though, just a bit more under control than your typical knuckle dragger.  I'll leave justification for the two thumbs argument in the thread that got more hostile than our recent hijinks around here from several years back.

I don't think I know a single person that plays Golden Tee in the real world.

You don't know me, but if I see a GT machine I pump a few dollars in it.

I couldn't get in with the two thumbs thing. I put my arm parallel to the control panel and roll with the side of my hand.

So. Many. Golden Tees. On. Craigslist.
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

My brother-in-law and his group of friends were fanatical about GT. Then I bought him one.

I think they figured out it wasn't fun to play sober.

I wouldn't mind if they would stop telling me that I built it "wrong" (I did adjust the sensitivity to reflect the fact that you can't fire your arm through the machine) giving me tips on my "next" machine that I have to build to fix the serious flaws, and if there was no damage.

These are also the people that tell me that I cheat because I am good at the games I like.

Knowing how many hours it took me to build my cab I would lose it on someone who gave me criticism. Don't get me wrong, I would take it from people on here but not someone who has no clue how much time and effort it takes to build one of these from scratch.

I don't go to bars much, but every time I do the Golden Tee machine sits there unplayed the entire time I am there. I have no idea where these things are actually getting coin drop at.

Yeah, Golden Tee's been dead ~5 years.  People don't even ask me about getting them one anymore.

I'm actually looking forward to owning a computer fast enough to emulate it and Gauntlet Legends, but it's not a hot priority...

I turn off the coin-up buttons and force the use of real coins when I have kids over.  By keeping the supply of coins seemingly limited (I'll usually provide more if they insist), it seems to have a positive effect on the kind of engagement they have.  I also turn off the ability to continue play on titles supporting that option.  The most annoying things are when they lean heavily on the CP and when they somehow manage to get the machine back to the desktop (still haven't figured out what button mashing combo does that).

Same here - there is some combination of button presses on my cab that brings up a menu in advmenu, and without a keyboard I can only exit and reboot the machine.
I have never found what combination does this, but when a guest gets on the cabinet, they seem to find it almost instantly, and they can never remember what they did so I can disable it.

Re Golden Tee, my son is totally obsessed with golf, so I could see maybe getting a machine someday.

There's a Mexican restaurant my wife and I go to about once a week nearby that has a Golden Tee machine.  I'd say about half the time (or less) there are people on it and we go during non-peak hours.  In fact there were 3 people playing on it last night while we were there.

I love it and will play every time I see it. However, I never see it...*sniff, sniff*

My biggest peeve is watches and bracelets.

After a month of my cab being new, I found a nice deep scratch on the CP plexi near player 2. I then realized that my brother in law was wearing a heavy duty metal watch that grooved into the plexi. Then fast forward to my goth nephew with his spiky stud bracelet, made a nice mess of the CP. I found that I could fix minor scratches with a butane torch, but I think I am going to have to replace the plexi at some point. Anyone use glass or something more durable?

Nah.  Just toss in a few cigarette burns and you have "authentic patina"!

I actually used something less durable (or rather less scratch resistant) - Lexan polycarbonate.
It will scratch easier than Plexiglas, but it is so much easier to cut and drill.

If I get scratches, I'm planning on using micromesh to buff them out.

If you don't know what micromesh is, try a quick Google search - it is amazing stuff.
I use it to remove scratches and polish plastic all the time, and it will bring it to a glossy finish very quickly and easily.
