volume control

Hi guys can I get a diagram of how to wire this in to my jamma setup. It only has the speaker  wires thanks

My guess would be:

Speaker + from the JAMMA edge connector to IN
Speaker - from the JAMMA edge connector to G
Speaker + wire to SP
Speaker - wire to earth/ground (the pin next to SP)
Amp power + wire to B+
Amp power - to earth/ground

Connecting an amplified signal to an amplifier will have a real nice buzz. If you want to use that amp you will need to tap into the 3.5mm jack on the board to get a line level signal for the amp. You can skip the amp and wire speaker directly to harness. With speaker wired to harness you can add a rheostat inline ( https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-25-ohm-3-watt-rheostat?variant=5717266181 ) that can act as a volume trim of the amplified signal.

I have 12v amps in both my JAMMA wired cabs. One has a MAME rig in it so needs an amp. I get no buzz when connecting JAMMA boards, though. I just turn the amp down to an optimal, minimal level on the game PCB, then use the external amp to regulate volume.

please do explain to me how u take a 4 ohm load to line level ??
where 4 ohm load is a speaker
where line level is 47k or better
and make this work without buzz ?

oh wait i c turn the volume controll way down,cannot hear it then..huh

Sometimes I think ed can be a little harsh, but he pretty much nailed what I was thinking.

I don't see how putting an amp inline with an amplified signal (e.g. JAMMA) makes any sense. I always put the amp on the MAME side of the harness. To do otherwise strikes me as defeating the purpose of using a JAMMA cab in the first place.

To the OP: Are you running JAMMA (already amplified) and just want a volume control -- or -- are you running a MAME box in a JAMMA-wired cab and need the amplification. If you are looking solely for volume control, listen to chopper. If you need the amp, put it on the MAME side of the harness.

Because I've fitted the volume control to a service panel that's accessed via the coin door. I can use this to easily adjust volume, whether I'm running a JAMMA board or my MAME rig.

I guess if it's not causing you trouble and makes you happy then all power to you.

I put an amp on the MAME side and, like chopper suggests, a volume control on the harness side (typically on a service panel along with service/test and sometimes credit buttons).
