Finishing nails for bracing pieces?
«

Hi,
I was thinking about using a nail gun with finishing nails and glue for the bracing pieces (for the top, front and back panels). Is this method considered strong enough for a mid sized, 2 player cab (ie OND size) or do I need to screw those suckers in?
thanks
JR

A proper glue joint is actually stronger than screws. I glue the battens in place and then tack them down with 18g brad nails. Tiny little bits of wire, just to keep the battens in place so the glue can dry.

Yep, nails and screws are just to hold the wood together while the glue dries.

The factory built arcade machines of the 80's & 90's typically had the battons glued and stapled,
so as long as you glue them, the brad nails should be fine.
