Trackball ps2 to usb conversion?
« on: September 24, 2015, 10:36:42 am »
im working on a older cp and it has a trackball installed but with a PS2 plug. I'm running a minipac which does have input wire plugs for a spinner and I believe a trackball.. I don't believe I'll be able to splice the cable into anything to use those inputs so my next bet is just using a ps2
To usb converter. I want to stop by microcenter and grab one. I'm on my phone so research is a little tedious but I've found active and non active, as well as other things I don't know much about. Also, I don't know if any adaptor will read properly for accurate gaming, or if I need to look for something specific. . So, what am I looking for to go ps2 trackball to usb? Thank you for help and sorry I can't do as much research as I'd like.. I'd like to stop and get it on the way home

I had issues finding one for my trackball. Maybe this will help.

that does help. My only problem now it seems is how to figure out if the adapter is active or passive in the store. Looking online to find a local store, it seems non of them specify if they are active or passive..

I would say go to a computer store and ask for an active one. If they give you one they claim is active but doesn't specify on the packaging, make sure they have a return policy, and let them know you'll be back swinging if they were lying to you!

I am on my way to Micro Center I'm sure I'll be able to find what I need. My main concern was specifics such as the active or passive element which I was not aware of. I can go ahead and consider this resolved thank you for all the replies.
