Aimtrak set up issues
« on: August 13, 2015, 09:05:21 am »
I have recently purchased an Aimtrak gun and I'm having issues setting it up. On my cabinet the cursor moves around like crazy even after calibration. I plugged it into my laptop and I can calibrate it fine, however the triggers do not register in mame. I know these are probably 2 separate issues but any help will be appreciated.

For the triggers, you have to make sure that multiple mice are enabled in MAME.  If the buttons are mapped as mouse buttons in the Aimtrak utility, they might not work in MAME unless it can see more than one mouse.

Was there any sunlight near the cabinet that might have caused the cursor issue?

Sorted the triggers. You have to have the gun pointed at the screen while pressing the trigger so it works on my laptop but not on my cabinet (the gun isn't faulty). Cabinet is in a conservatory, which may explain why it worked last night. How much sunlight is too much and what is seeing the light the gun? The cabinet is in front of a window.

Yeah, that could be a problem.  The gun is looking for the IR lights on the sensor. If sunlight is coming in behind the cabinet, it will confuse the camera on the gun.

I actually had to add a lamp at the back of the room because the overhead li/ght was effing the gun up.
