Halp!

My DUSA shifter stripped a wire while I was removing it to clean and service the thing, now I can't get 3rd gear to register so I'm not entirely sure I've got it wired back right.

I've done the process of elimination with the exta wire in the input service menu but am not finding the solution. Anybody willing to take some pics or trace the wiring from harness to switches for a Sega 4 gear?

More info, service manual is no help and my harness is so chewed that I need to replace it completely but want to ensure I have the correct solution to start so any dedicated DUSA owners out there (um SailorSat) I need some help.

Thanks!

Oh and let's please not move this to driving until I get a few responses, try to get max views and all.

perhaps is the switch itself broken? try plugging in an arcade button and press it.
Is that a Sanwa in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

This friday I'll open up a control panel and make some pictures for you.

If I remember correctly there is some kind of rubber "bumper" in the shifter - when I cleaned one of my shifters those bumber was broken and small pieces fell out. Now the 2nd gear won't have enough "push" to activate the switch.

If I remember correctly, there are three switches involved.

I do all that stuff even without a Joystick ;)

I have one that's not installed in anything.  I'll make an attempt to dig it out and take some pics tonight.

If you want it for parts, I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping.
It's well worn, as many Daytona parts are.

I believe sailosat is right. But its been a while.

One thing to note... is that the daytona shifters mini switches are notorious for failure.  Make sure to test it with a multimeter.

Awesome, many thanks, that's what I thought as well, it's an interesting wiring scheme they use and not intuitive (for me at least) so whatever you can provide would be a huge help!

Cool, my rollers and black bumpers are in good condition but the very bottom bumpers (yellow on mine) are pretty worn.  Haven't checked if replacements are easily available on those or not.  Again, whatever pics you could do would be a huge help!

Good call, I have an extra set, I'll be sure and test them out again just to make sure I'm not working with faulty equipment.

Not sure if OEM wires because of the crimp terminals, but hopefully it helps.

Oh and RadioShack usually has those size roller switches if the one near you is still open....

My shifter is slightly different (more or less same body but different switch positions) but I think I've got it - and what I have is a shifter that is wired wrong no matter where I attach the loose wire - which makes me wonder how it was working before... or maybe I was never getting all four gears and hadn't noticed.  Didn't play that much before I started tear down.

Success!  BadMouth YOU DA MAN!

Mine is wired backwards, Grounds to NO, one of the switches was flipped - wired like a sane person - which I did after leads popped when I took it out - just failed to notice that all the others were bassakwards.  Switched those back and hooked up the other ground and I was drifting through turn two like a badass!  I need to redo the harness but at least now I know what's up.

Hi/Low, 1/3, 2/4 is the switchset for mine as well with a shared ground between Hi/Low and 1/3.

Kickass!  Now this weekend I get to put it back together and I'll get my thread updated.  Thanks!!!!
