I've got a couple old gameport joysticks that I use with this usb gameport adapter (one for each of them)

They work fine.
Most of the old analog flight sticks are plastic and feel spongy.
I wouldn't build it into a permanent control panel, but they're ok for some cheap thrills playing old flying games that originally had analog controls.
I found that I tired of the fighter jet games quickly.
Space Harrier is better with analog, although not unplayable without it.
It also works for Star Wars Trilogy on Model 3 emulator.
You could play the driving games with it if you really wanted, but that would just feel too wrong to me.
